I’ve Worn Flares for Years—Here’s How to Wear Them in 2020
Flares can be a bit of a marmite trend in the land of fashion—with some people waxing lyrical about their throwback appeal and leg-lengthening powers, while others are just forcibly reminded of teen styling mistakes of outfits past. (Did anyone else own a white pair from Tammy Girl? Just me?) Well, if the title of this article hasn't given it away, I'm very much in the pro-flares camp and have been for a few years now. And I'm here to say that you should be there, too.
The '70s called, and it wants its outfit back.
Admittedly, my trusty flares haven't had much airtime over the last few months. The one downside to the style is that they're not so good for super low-key looks. But the moment I get the chance, I'll be throwing them on with my favourite heeled boots and blouse. Elegant yet personality packed, it's a denim style that never fails to make me feel polished, even if I'm just wearing a white tee and blazer.
The great thing about denim is that you can mould it to your own personal taste and wardrobe requirements. However, if you're looking for a few styling cues to keep your flares feeling fresh, I've put together an edit of autumn outfits to spark inspiration.
