Flannels Have Officially Returned So Here Are 23 Chic Ones

If you never stopped wearing flannels, more power to you, but for those of you who put the shirt style to rest in high school, I have news for you: Flannel shirts are officially cool again, and I have all the content to prove it. What was once thought of as a fall essential quickly fell to the wayside after the early 2000s, but according to my research, they are back and they are better. I started noticing the return of the shirt style thanks to my best friend, Mimi, who direct messaged me this photo on Instagram one day asking me if flannels were cool again. My initial reaction was absolutely not, but thanks to fashion week street style and the abundance of versions I have been seeing in the market, I have been proven very wrong.

Fashion girls have been incorporating plaid flannel shirts into their fall 2019 wardrobes in every way imaginable. Whether they are layered over sleek tailored trousers or are buttoned just at the tip-top, the return of the flannel shirt trend this time around is feeling fresher than ever, and I can't wait to get my hands on one. Ahead, check out how women have been styling the trend on the streets, on Instagram, and then be sure to shop 23 of my favorite chic versions that will have you feeling like this might be the only shirt you wear all fall.

This shirt also falls under the spliced-fabric microtrend I'm loving right now.

Keep your flannel untucked for a laid-back look.
