Five Stylish T-Shirts You'll Want To Live In
Anyone who knows me will tell you I love a t-shirt. The staple is my all-time favourite closet chameleon--meaning it looks just as good worn with your most casual pieces as it does with your fancier, after-five essentials--and the styles I own get very little downtime. While most people associate tees with casual weekend looks, I prefer to wear them in a more professional or dressed-up scenario. Paired with the right components, such as the perfect pair of trousers, a slickly tailored jacket, and sexy shoes, a t-shirt balances out the look to make it feel effortlessly cool. Plus, the beauty of an excellent tee is that it also fits right in with a biker jacket and boyfriend jeans or can be tucked into a swingy summer skirt, so it’s a piece you can wear for work, play, and the weekend. Check out my top five favourite tees below.
1. Levi’s Made & Crafted Bay Tee ($85, 415.431.4000)
This striped shirt has that great worn-in, almost vintage look and reminds me of something a ‘60s surf Betty would adore.
2. T by Alexander Wang Slub Classic Tee ($95) in Ivory
?The nubby texture and slouchy silhouette of this T by Alexander Wang shirt make it the perfect candidate for a night out, especially if it’s tucked into slouchy satin evening pants.
3. Raquel Allegra Basic Tee ($242, 212.826.8900) in Sienna Fossil
I love that this tee resembles an athletic jersey, but is still super feminine and sexy. The relaxed fit adds an element of sportiness to anything you wear it with. If you’re looking for a more affordable alternative, try Marc by Marc Jacobs Slubbed Linen Jersey Tee ($98).
4. Proenza Schouler Black Printed Georgette Protestor Collar S/S T-Shirt ($475, 212.585.3200)
I’m addicted to Proenza Schouler’s luxe tees; they’re so simple, but fit perfectly. This one from the spring collection has a silk front panel, which makes it feel more dressed up. 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Paneled Silk-Chiffon T-Shirt ($250) is another great option, as it has a similar casual-meets-elegant design.
5. LNA Desert Crew ($90)
Torn in just the right place, this pre-distressed top gets a touch of polish when styled under a snug blazer.
