Hailey Bieber Just Called the 4 Jacket Trends Everyone Will Buy for Spring
Considering just about every image I see of Hailey Bieber is a paparazzi shot of her entering or exiting a building, it's only natural she’s become a reliable source of outerwear inspiration. This season is no exception, and it's currently her spring-ready layers that have my full attention.
As I write this, New Yorkers are enjoying our first little pop of spring-like weather, which has us collectively wondering exactly what it might look like to get dressed this year once the temperatures more reliably creep above 40ºF. According to the Hailey Bieber school of thought (or at least her recent outfits), there are four key jacket trends worth dabbling in this season—so if you've been wondering about spring's go-to outerwear trends for 2025, wonder no longer. From twists on trenches to the most covetable bomber jackets, they're all right here.
Cinch-Waist Leather Jackets
On Bieber: Phoebe Philo Padded Jacket with Gathered Waist ($9200); Saint Laurent Zoe Pumps
Blame Khaite and Phoebe Philo for the way this leather-jacket-that's-almost-a-dress silhouette is selling out everywhere. My advice is to get in on a longer-line style while you can, whether it's cinched (the holy grail) or belted. And if wearing it with just sheer tights and heels isn't quite your speed, know that this downtown-elegant silhouette is just as good with everything from pencil skirts to tailored trousers to wide-leg jeans.
Stone-Colored Trench Coats
On Bieber: Stella McCartney trench coat; Maison Margiela Wool Cardigan ($1075); The Row Hit Cashmere Scarf, Igor Trousers, Canal Loafers, and Pim Leather Tote Bag ($1650)
Oversize trench coats bring a good kind of drama—it's that '90s-TV-police-procedural kind of drama. Right now, it's all about stone-colored trenches versus warm camel hues, so look for cooler tones that drift towards feeling almost a little grayish-green (and don't skip shopping the menswear section).
Caramel Bombers
On Bieber: Saint Laurent Bomber Jacket in Suede ($5500); Ferragamo loafers; The Row Pim Leather Tote Bag ($1650)
Vintage-inspired caramel bomber jackets are gearing up for a big spring moment, and there are loads of styles ready to shop. Naturally suede is dominating (as the trend that just keeps on trending), but there are also some chic vegan-leather options that will likely do better on a rainy spring day.
Varsity Jackets
On Bieber: Kith x Avirex for Madison Square Garden Sports Icon Jacket; Ferragamo loafers; The Row Ingrid Bag ($2950)
Speaking of bombers, varsity jackets are here to keep things a little sporty. The options are many, from unadorned vegan-leather styles that feel more elevated to preppy and patched letterman jackets—and you know who's surely responsible for the Knicks jackets you can now buy on Shopbop
