I'm a Former Nordstrom Buyer—I Was Just in Europe and Saw These Fall Trends Everywhere

The fall trends a Nordstrom buyer saw all over Europe.

As a content creator (ahem, So Susie) and former Nordstrom buyer, Susie Wright has a pulse on what matters in fashion. While she gets her inspiration from a variety of sources, street style is definitely one area where she spots cool trends and outfit ideas. On that note, Wright recently took a trip to Europe with her family, including her daughter Emily Wright, who works with her at So Susie. They spent time across Italy and France, and she spotted a ton of fall trends she's loving.

While she went during a transitional time, Wright is sure that her favorite items (she's wearing many of them now in between summer and fall) will be huge this fall based on the presence and what she's noted from the runways. Keep scrolling to check out the pieces Wright spotted on the streets of Europe. You'll also see how Wright has worn or is wearing the trends in question now.

Shades of Burgundy

On Wright: AllSaints jacket; Quince dress

"Burgundy (and other shades of wine) is a fall trend that's so rich and elegant looking! You'll be surprised by how versatile the color is. It looks great with almost any other color, including neutrals. I'm seeing dresses and skirts but also shoes and other accessories. This is the perfect fall color."

Leopard Print

On Wright: Frame blouse and jeans

"Everywhere we went, leopard print was on full display. Whether it was just a hint, like shoes or a skirt, or a bigger statement like dresses, it's definitely a trend that's continuing into fall and winter. Add a piece with leopard print and you'll look stylish and on-trend."

Cool Leather

On Wright: Tuckernuck dress

"Leather and faux leather always appear this time of year, but in recent weeks, they're everywhere—from pants and dresses to tops and jackets."

Polka Dots

On Wright: Vince dress

"I was so surprised to see polka dots on many women in France and Italy. They were mostly wearing dresses or sets, but I noticed some skirts too. Of course, I then started scouring my favorite websites online and spotted so many other pieces that are perfect for fall."

Wide-Leg Denim

On Wright: Paige jeans

"Wide-leg jeans are the perfect style for fall. They're super versatile and work with all your shoes, including sandals and heels. Then when the weather changes, change to a darker wash and transition right into boots! Pair with short-sleeved tops and cozy fall sweaters. This is the denim to own right now."

Skirts

On Wright: Alice & Olivia look

"All over France and Italy, there were skirts of all types, long and short, slim and flowy. After seeing the trends from NYFW, it's clear that everyone should add a skirt or two to their closets!"

Belts

On Emily Wright: Frame belt

"If you purchase one accessory this fall, make it a statement belt. Right now, I'm loving everything with studs, and it just adds a cool factor to your outfits."

Gold Jewelry

On Susie and Emily Wright: Foundrae jewelry

"My daughter and I noticed many beautiful women wearing pretty gold jewelry—layered necklaces, statement rings, timeless watches, and bold earrings."
