If You Want to Look Rich This Spring, This Is the Only Jacket Trend to Consider

New Yorkers *love* to talk about how there are only a few weeks a year when the weather isn’t too hot or too cold. Fall and spring here are almost comically fleeting—blink (or be out of town the wrong weekend) and you might miss it entirely. There’s a very good chance that your perfect, light jacket from last fall didn’t get enough of a chance to shine—and given how much of the fashion industry resides here, I suspect this is at least partly responsible for the rich-looking spring trend that’s bubbling up (again) in the spring wardrobes of It-girls and fashion editors on both coasts.
Late last year, barn jackets quickly became one of fall’s most coveted items. From Kate Middleton-approved OG Barbour styles to modern takes from J. Crew and Mango that kept selling out, we just couldn’t get enough of these highly wearable utility jackets with typically corduroy collars. For spring 2025, the contrast collar is back with a vengeance, and in a slew of more elegant materials like suede and velvet and vegan leather, which give a luxe touch to polished and relaxed silhouettes alike. Chic denim overshirts? Cropped jackets? Yes and yes. If you’re someone who lives their best life on a 50 degree day, here are a whole bunch of chic options you can thrive in this season.
You know this suede option from Zara is going to sell out in a flash.
I'm not hear to argue with Toteme's spring jacket offering.
Such an ultra-light quilt, it's almost more of a shirt than a jacket.
You're going to have to be *very* quick if you want the matching jeans.
A faux leather collar brings a little polish to this chill look.
The combo of pieces in this outfit really is peak spring in New York.
If Frankie Shop isn't doing it, is it even a trend?
It just wouldn't be a contract collar jacket story without some Barbour.
But if you're in the mood to splurge, may I humbly suggest this?
