I'm a Stylist With Classic Taste—This Is Everything on My Carefully Curated Wish List This Month
Stylist and content creator Marianne Smyth (likely better known to you as @smythsisters) has impeccable taste: fact. And with nearly 400,000 followers on Instagram, I think it's safe to say that a lot of other people agree. Her easy yet elegant style, enviable wardrobe, beautiful interiors and consistently chic mirror selfies have followers coming back to her account time and again, looking for recommendations on what pieces are worth buying and how to style them to emulate her vibe. So, with a new season on the horizon, we asked Marianne to share her wish list of the items that have caught her eye over the past few weeks and some exclusive looks she's been wearing on rotation recently. A word of warning: you're going to love everything. Over to you, Marianne.
Coat season is finally here! My favourite time of the year for dressing. Think boots, layers, Aran knits & those special pieces to elevate your everyday looks.
A lot of goodies this month. Pieces I have already trialed & tested & of course those pieces firmly on my wish list! Enjoy x
SEE MY MONTHLY PICKS:
I love a knitted culotte to elevate my day time looks, team with long boots & an oversized trench to keep the balance.
I love a slim structured bag with an oversized coat. This one is very Alaia coded.
A great way to create dimension to your daily looks. I’d keep this look causal & pair with some vintage look Levi’s & loafers.
I have an Old Raey coat I pull out and wear every year. This H&M coat is very similar!
I have been wearing these loafers on repeat. Really comfortable & no breaking in required.
I’ve searched high & low to find a really, I mean really good Aran knit that matches up to my Old Raey jumper. I’ve found the one...
I have been looking at this necklace daily. Dress up a long sleeve tee or to accompany a roll neck. Either way it’s sure to be the centre piece of your outfit.
A new brand for your radar. Can’t wait to style this blazer up now it’s a little cooler.
The easiest way to add interest to your knitwear or coats. The colour just does something to me!
SEE MY PICKS FROM LAST MONTH:
I love going hands-free when I’m running to around town child free. And what a perfect way to do it.
An oversized darker trench with this plum shade of denim paired with pumps . THIS is how I plan to see in autumn.
This leather trench arrived last week & it’s perfect.I sized up to allow room for knitwear.
I jumped at these. Another horseshoe pair that will be perfect with a simple white tee and flats.
This time of year I love to incorporate some indigo darker denim into my wardrobe. Fast forward to September 2024 and I’ve been wearing this Hush pair all week. The exposed stitching adds a little interest to my everyday looks.
This cropped dainty cardigan for date night. Pair with kick flare cropped trousers & a pointy kitten heel. There you have your very demure, cutesy look all worked out!
If you know me I’m a big fan of a knitted waistcoat. Layer with a grey tee, some loose long tailored trousers & a long leather jacket. An easy weekend look to recreate.
I debated over the black or grey pair, ended up picking black. I love a ballet flat for transitioning into the new season, when it gets a little cooler pair it with an opaque black sock. Very chic.
A practical yet sophisticated coat to help you on your rainy morning commute.
Field jackets are everywhere, but this one in particular caught my eye. Wear now with cut-off denim shorts, your favourite boxy white tee, an oversized shoulder bag and some simple flats, and when it gets a little cooler, swap out the shorts for jeans.
This structured raffia tote housed all of my children's things on holiday and looked chic whilst doing it. I also have the larger black version and it was great for the beach and as my airplane carry-on.
