Fashion collaborations may be controversial, but I'm a fan of them. I think it's incredibly thrilling when two brands—often with entirely different styles—join forces and blend their unique design codes. The resulting collections usually showcase a fascinating fusion of aesthetics, allowing consumers to experience the best of both worlds. So, when I opened my inbox last week to the subject line of "new collab," I was so excited that I raced to open the email. I quickly learned that two American brands, Cult Gaia and Gap, would be launching a holiday collection featuring a range of statement pieces that infuse Gap’s iconic classics and everyday wearability with Cult Gaia’s sculptural and artistic approach. Needless to say, I was determined to find a way to get a firsthand look and feel of the collection.

As part of my "work perks," I had the fortunate opportunity to preview the collection before it went live today. Out of the 35-piece collection, I handpicked eight items that perfectly align with my fashion taste and suit my New York City lifestyle. For example, I opted for a gorgeous coat in chocolate brown, fall's hottest hue, a mini slip dress with gold chain link detailing, and a classic white button-down shirt with an open-back design. I even pulled an elevated hooded sweatshirt emblazoned with Gap's signature logo to read “Gaia," reflecting a celebration of the two brands. Then, I meticulously styled each piece with items from my wardrobe to get a true feel of the collection. Ultimately, I created seven unique looks I couldn't wait to share.

Below, find my honest review of the items I picked, including what I loved, what I'm passing on, and so much more. Then, don't hesitate to grab the pieces that catch your eye because the collection is officially live, and I'm 99.9% sure it will sell out before Monday.

I didn't want to keep you waiting, so I put my favorite piece first. The Chain Mini Slip Dress is everything I want in an LBD. It has a classic mini design that hugs the body comfortably and a square neckline that's forever timeless. However, the chain detail straps give it a modern appeal. My favorite part is that there is a built-in bra so that no additional bra may be needed.

Don't be alarmed if you see me in this frock all fall long. I'll be wearing it with everything from sheer tights and closed-toe heels to knee-high boots and an oversize coat. Pro tip: size down, as this and many other products I tried from the collection seem to run big.

Fashion girls will be doubling up on denim this fall, so if you want to follow their lead, grab the Gap x Cult Gaia's Asymmetrical Denim Jacket and Stride Chain Jeans. The Asymmetrical Denim Jacket is a modern take on the classic denim jacket, featuring an eye-catching asymmetrical button-down design and a cropped hemline that sits perfectly at the hip bones. On the other hand, the Stride Chain Jeans boast a unique chain detail that elegantly drapes across the outer thigh, along with striking gold stitching on the back pockets.

These two pieces effortlessly merge Gap's signature denim craftsmanship with Cult Gaia's distinctive artistic touches, resulting in a versatile and stylish pairing. Whether you're running errands or heading out for a casual evening, this ensemble offers an easy yet sophisticated look that exudes confidence and style.

I was utterly impressed when I laid my eyes on this coat. Its initial soft and well-crafted feel had me intrigued, but when I slipped it on, I was captivated by its flattering silhouette and substantial, durable weight on my frame. The rich chocolate brown color exudes luxury and versatility, seamlessly complementing my existing wardrobe. Additionally, the two generously sized front pockets allow me to keep my essentials within arm's reach. This coat offers relaxed and polished styling options as it can be worn open for a casual vibe or cinched with a belt for a tailored look.

The collection has so many great sweaters and cardigans, so I had a tough time deciding which one to try. Then I remembered that dirty martini green ss going to be everywhere this season, so I opted for the cable-knit sweater in that color. The chunky knit features a cozy mock neck and wide-ribbed cuffs for extra warmth. I was really drawn to the unique curved hemline of the top because I thought it would be flattering and add a stylish touch to my outfit. When I tried it on, though, I noticed that something about the way the hemline fell didn't sit right on my body. I'm open to giving things a second chance, so I'm planning to restyle it by pairing it with a pleated miniskirt and loafers to see if I prefer that look.

Cult Gaia and Gap have collaborated to create a luxurious hoodie that redefines casual comfort. The new sweatshirt boasts a sophisticated design with its metallic composition, elevating the traditional hoodie to a new level of style. It features a soft white fabric lining and an oversize fit to ensure maximum comfort, perfect for cozy weekends or casual outings. I envision myself reaching for this versatile piece when running errands or meeting a friend for coffee. While I initially styled it with jeans and flats for a relaxed look, I am also excited to experiment with different styles, such as pairing it with a full skirt and pointed-toe heels for an unexpectedly sophisticated ensemble.

I always struggle to find cute and affordable going-out tops, so I was happy to see that Gap and Cult Gaia created one for the fall season. No matter your age, this going-out top will elevate anything from jeans to leather pants and ensure you feel and look your best for an evening out. It features large straps and a square neck for a flattering fit, and the soft material hugs the body comfortably. Plus, the gold embellishment adds a chic touch. As previously mentioned, a few pieces like this one run large, so size down when purchasing.

If you know me well, you know I have a strong affinity for button-down shirts. I find myself reaching for these timeless and versatile wardrobe essentials at least twice a week. The effortless and polished look they offer is truly unmatched. Given my love for this classic piece, I simply couldn't resist trying out the Gap x Cult Gaia collaboration. What immediately caught my eye was the alluring open-back design, a feature that sets it apart from my other shirts. Additionally, the adjustable straps in the back allow for a personalized fit, ensuring a more tailored and refined look. This is a must-buy if you're looking for an elevated wardrobe basic.
