Shopping and chatting about style is something my mother and I do often. We always have. She recently asked for my recommendations of a few elevated basics that could enhance her 2025 wardrobe. I should note that we both gravitate toward easy, simple, and elegant pieces, so I made sure to offer modern selects that fit that criteria.

Below, you'll find the four styles I suggested to my mom. She liked them because they seemed versatile yet of-the-moment. I think they totally give off that fashion-person vibe.

Keep scrolling to see how fashion people are styling the basics in question and shop a variety of silhouettes if one of the picks catches your eye.

Turtlenecks are classic and will always feel chic. My mom mentioned that she actually doesn't have a beige or camel style, so I suggested a few silhouettes that are very elegant.

Double-Breasted Blazer

My mom has a single-breasted blazer she wears often right now but is interested in a new double-breasted style this year. This aligns with the soft power trend that will continue to be on the rise in 2025.

White Coat

A brown coat is a staple for my mom and myself, but she's also interested in adding a stylish white coat to her rotation.

Skinny Pants

Wide-leg trousers are still on point, but yes, skinny pants will have a huge moment this year. My mom wants a fresh style to wear with sweaters and button-down shirts.
