I Know You're a Fashion Person If You're Wearing Shoes in This Unexpected Colour
Upon a recent perusal of my Instagram feed, I noticed a recurring theme amongst the most stylish people I follow: Green shoes. The number of influencers and fashion people stepping out with this colour on their feet can only mean that green shoes are officially having a moment.
However, I must admit that this wasn't the first time the trend caught my attention. In fact, it was last September in Milan, when Prada sent models down the runway wearing sumptuous satin mules in a citrus shade of green in flat and mid-heeled iterations for its S/S 24 show. Now, perhaps thanks to what can only be described as the frenzy that is "brat summer", I can't open any social app without seeing the associated colour of the season (specifically, a shade of lime-spiked neon) on any and every style of shoe, from striking heels to sleek loafers.
Thinking about it, it wasn't just Prada that delivered green shoes on the runway; Bottega Veneta and Carven also embraced the bold trend with their unique takes. Paired with a voluminous white, strapless dress, Carven's green, square-toe heels combined elegance with a playful flair; the vibrant colour and unique shape of the shoes adding a fun twist to a classic, sophisticated look.
But like with any statement-making piece, I can sense the apprehension. How am I going to wear green shoes, I hear you ask. Well, I think they're surprisingly versatile. Imagine you're going for a relaxed look, reaching for your favourite pair of jeans and a simple white tee. Green flats or loafers are an easy way to add a pop of colour without going overboard. And if you're dressing up, bold, bright heels can be a game changer. Team them with a black, navy or beige outfit for a chic contrast that makes your shoes the star of the show.
To put it simply, green shoes are ready to elevate your wardrobe. Whether you're splurging on a designer pair or seeking a budget-friendly alternative, there are plenty of options to up your shoe game. Prada's satin options are super luxurious whilst Zara and Mango offer affordable choices that are just as stylish.
Embracing any trend isn't just about following the crowd—it's about making a style choice that works for you, so scroll through my picks below to find your perfect pair.
