I've Gotten More Compliments on This Sneaker Trend Than Anything Else—That's All

Metallics deserve a spot up there with the other neutrals in your closet. They go with anything that you could possibly think of styling them with, and they instantly elevate an outfit. There's no better place to take your favorite sneakers than into this category. I recently gave them a spin and can say I'm very impressed. When I recently interviewed New York City fashion people, a few mentioned metallic sneakers, and I was instantly intrigued. I've officially added a pair to my wardrobe and feel so in the know.

I'm convinced that these sneakers are not just a passing fad since they have quickly become a staple in my wardrobe. Something about the blend of comfort, versatility, and distinctiveness has me sold. Below, find my review of the best pair I've tried and a few other styles I'll be shopping next.

My friend literally stopped someone on the street to ask where her Gola sneakers were from. I felt like it was a flex when I told her I already own a pair in blue. This is my second pair, and when it comes to statement-making sneakers, it's the only style you need to know. There's never a breaking-in period when it comes to this shoe style, and I got so many compliments on this specific pair. While I styled them with activewear on my way to a workout class, I plan on wearing them next with a cute sundress. I'm a sucker for exclusivity, so when I found out I could only buy them from Free People, I wanted them even more.

Sierra Mayhew was always destined to work in fashion, but she didn't know it at first. Growing up with no choice but to wear a rotation of school uniforms and activewear, her love for fashion really blossomed when she moved away for college and was able to finally define her very own personal style. Shortly thereafter, she interned at Elle magazine and instantly knew that editorial was for her. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, she worked for ShopBazaar, contributing regularly to Bazaar.com, and finally made her way to Who What Wear, where she is an associate editor. When she’s not working, you can catch her always trying to catch a flight, rollerblading through New York City traffic, or exploring the latest luxury vintage boutique.
