I'm a Dress Devotee, But These 6 Fresh Trouser Trends Are Set to Dominate 2025

If there's one thing I've come to accept about my personal style over the past year, it's that I'm a trouser gal. I always try to give skirts and dresses a fair shot, but inevitably turn to jeans or trousers most days. I love their versatility, their effortlessly cool vibe, the fact they go with practically every type of shoe. Having come to accept this fact, one of my resolutions for 2025 (yes, I've already started planning them out) is to broaden my collection of trousers, and that means that for the past week I've been fixated on figuring out what styles are going to be the top trends.

It always makes me relieved to see classic styles come to the top of the trending charts, and this season is no exception. From pinstripe tailored trousers to corduroys (which I've already worked into my rotation to great success), many of the top trousers that tastemakers are backing for 2025 are timeless options that will always come back into sartorial rotation. Given that I know trousers and jeans form the foundation of my wardrobe, I'm happy to invest in a truly classic pair, but there are also plenty of high street options that will do the trick, too.

Here, discover my pick of the key trouser trends I predict will dominate our feeds in 2025, as well as an edit of some of the best styles currently available for every budget.

1. Silk

Style Notes: We've been singing the praises of the silk trouser trend for some time now, but this supremely classy trouser isn't going anywhere in 2025. Go loose and effortless, or opt for a more tailored look, and layer on the knitwear to make it winter-appropriate.

2. Indigo Denim

Style Notes: It seems there's always a new denim trend, but in 2025 the focus will be on going back to the classics, and that means investing in a true-blue, indigo-wash pair. Pick whatever silhouette you love, just be sure to go for an original blue hue.

3. Pinstripe

Style Notes: Over the past few years, tailored trousers have gone from dreary office attire to minimalist-approved fashion essential, made to go with everything from pointed-toe heels and shirts to trainers and slouchy knits. In 2025, it's pinstripe versions that are on the top of every fashion insider's wish list.

Style Notes: I'm forever devoted to my black trousers and jeans, but in 2025 it's brown that's got to be on top of my must-have list. Whether you go for a tailored look or a more relaxed style, make sure you've got a brown pair in your wardrobe this season.

Style Notes: The retro trend is making a comeback in 2025, and it's been given a seriously chic upgrade. In 2025, opt for classic colours—cream, black or navy—in a straight leg silhouette to ensure you get the sophisticated, Parisian-approved look.

6. Cargo

Style Notes: Yes, that's right, the utility trouser is back. But in 2025, designers are giving cargo trousers an elevated twist. Look out for tailored styles with the signature cargo pockets, and dress down with a fitted t-shirt, or make it evening-ready by styling with a sheer top.
