7 Autumn Trouser Trends That Are Classy, Cool and the Perfect Break From Jeans
I took a look back at the autumn/winter 2025 runways to find seven cool but classic trouser trends to add to my wardrobe this season. Scroll down to see and shop them.

From classic white cotton styles to trendy polka-dot iterations, I’ve practically lived in skirts this summer, whether it's for work or an evening out. However, as we move past the middle of the season and further into autumn, I’m now starting to think about the trouser styles that I’ll be adding to my wardrobe ready for when the temperature drops.
I must admit, I tend to stick to a minimalist style of dressing, but for 2025, I’m on the hunt for trousers that feel that little bit fresher and on-trend for the season. I decided to remind myself of the trouser trends spotted on the autumn/winter 2025 runways during fashion month in February earlier this year, and I found seven trending styles that perfectly toe the line between elevated, wearable and timeless enough to last in my capsule wardrobe.
If you, too, are looking for trendy but classic trousers to wear now and well into the new season, keep scrolling to discover the seven trouser trends I’ll be adding to my outfit rotations this autumn.
7 Trouser Trends That Will Dominate Autumn 2025
1. Animal Print
Style Notes: As an editor with minimalist taste, I used to be unconvinced that animal print could look elegant and polished. Now, I can’t get enough of it, having invested in everything from a leopard-print bag to a zebra-print slip skirt. And for autumn 2025, animal-print trousers are at the forefront of this cool trend, with brands like Khaite showcasing chic iterations. Different enough to make an outfit look intentional but neutral enough to slot easily into a toned-down palette, I’m predicting we’ll see animal-print trousers everywhere this autumn.

2. Moss-Green Leather
Style Notes: It should come as no surprise that leather trousers are back again for another year. However, unlike the classic black or rich chocolate-brown shades we’ve seen over the past few autumn seasons, there’s a new colourway that designers such as Balmain and Christian Wijnants are coveting for autumn 2025: deep moss green. This elegant hue feels close enough to black to remain sophisticated but fresh enough to update all of your cold-weather outfits.

3. Corduroy
Style Notes: Reminiscent of my childhood in the early 2000s, corduroy trousers are making a comeback for 2025. This retro style is not only incredibly versatile, easily slotting into an outfit that you’d usually wear with jeans, but the thicker material will also keep you warm throughout the chillier months.

4. Oxblood
Style Notes: Burgundy was one of the biggest colour trends last autumn, and this year, the rich tone has gotten even deeper, with oxblood trousers taking over the runway. From Elie Saab to Elisabetta Franchi and Ferrari, this moody hue to set to be everywhere this season.

5. Ultra-Wide-Leg Tailoring
Style Notes: Tailored trousers can’t really be considered a trend thanks to their timelessness. However, every year, high-end designers manage to find subtle ways to tweak this classic style to make it feel fresh for the new season. This autumn, designers including Carolina Herrera and Stella McCartney focused on ultra-wide-leg iterations that perfectly suit the more laid-back, "cool-girl" nature of 2025 dressing.

COS's wide-leg trousers are amongst the best.
6. Velvet
Style Notes: Texture plays a huge role in autumn dressing, from soft buttery suede to supple leather separates, and this year, plush velvet is taking centre stage in trouser form. Usually, this is a fabric that I’d only really consider for party season; however, after seeing luxe velvet trousers from the likes of Max Mara and Roberto Cavalli, I’ve been convinced to add them into my outfit rotations as soon as the temperature drops.

7. Balloon
Style Notes: After barrel-leg jeans took off over the past few seasons, it’s no surprise that fashion people are turning to more dramatic silhouettes for autumn 2025. Enter the balloon trouser. I know that this exaggerated style is set to be huge amongst team Who What Wear UK. In fact, I’ve already invested in the exact Zara pair below.
