I Challenged Myself to Try 3 New Denim Trends (and I'm Now Obsessed)

If you know me, you know I'm a creature of habit. I frequent the same restaurants, hit the same beach every weekend, and if my husband would allow it, I'd cook the same meal for dinner every night. The same mindset usually applies to my style because when it comes to clothes, I know what works for me. But recently, I've felt the urge to branch out.
To everyone's surprise (including my own), I came out of a recent PAIGE shopping trip with three denim styles I never thought I'd try: a denim miniskirt (I'm 5'9" with long legs), ankle-length jeans, and a denim jumpsuit. But PAIGE reigns supreme in the denim game, and I'm confident the brand would never lead me astray. Dare I say I'm obsessed with what I got? Keep scrolling to get the scoop on how I'll be styling my new pieces for the rest of the season.
Fun fact about me: I'm 5'9", but my doctor says my limbs are the length of someone closer to 6'0". So I've had some trouble finding miniskirts that aren't too short for these stems. I've always envied people who can pull them off. Miraculously, this PAIGE mini was the perfect fit. And come on, it's so cute. I love the dark denim wash and the contrast stitching. We're entering fall, so of course I had to pair it with this cropped brown jacket, and the Mary Janes gave it that preppy look that I've been loving lately.
At this point, you're probably thinking, You don't wear ankle jeans? That's not that crazy of a trend! Look, it's just another qualm I have with my long legs! Ankle jeans typically fall closer to the middle of my calf, like capri pants that are slightly too long. (Trust me, I have old pictures and you do not want to see them.) My doubts grew as I watched my 5'4" manager try on the exact pair of ankle jeans I was eyeing and, you guessed it, they were the perfect length on her. But as if we were in that movie about traveling physics-defying pants, the jeans actually fit me. And thank goodness they did. These are the perfect style—straight-leg (classic), vintage-feeling (my favorite), and comfortable. What more could you ask for? And since I put all my effort into trying a new trend, I stuck with my typical black styling pieces—black coat, black top, and black loafers. All from PAIGE, and all incredibly chic.
My mom was (and still is) a fashion girly, and she's always told me about this denim jumpsuit she had in the '70s that she wishes she'd kept. When I put this on, it made me feel how I'm sure she felt in hers—cute, confident, and comfortable. I love everything about this piece, but my favorite part has to be the boning in the bodice. It feels so elevated and adds an extra element of chicness. It's such a good piece to dress up or down. I'll be wearing it on date nights, coffee runs, and everything in between.
