The Unexpected Jewelry Trend Fashion People Are Loving RN
Whenever I travel abroad, I feel like my fashion-editor senses are tingling for the next big trend to hit New York. First, I spotted capri pants all around Madrid last summer, which eventually made their way stateside. Then, while dining in Paris earlier this winter, I saw an abundance of polka-dot dresses and halternecks that would soon dominate New York spring style. Now, I'm pleased to report my latest finding: stone jewelry. Based on the number of fashion people I saw wearing these cool statement necklaces, earrings, and bracelets while on back-to-back trips to Mallorca and Copenhagen, I have a sneaking feeling that they'll soon be everywhere.
Although I first spotted stone-adjacent jewelry earlier this year with the overwhelming number of baroque and keshi pearl jewelry during New York Fashion Week, the style came to a head in my mind when I saw three different European women wear circular, red carnelian bead necklaces on the beaches of Mallorca. The style popped up on my feed once again thanks to Copenhagen-based founders and It girls Amalie and Cecilie Moosgaard of Lié Studio. After I saw it on them, I knew I had to buy one myself.
Lié Studio wasn't the only jewelry brand with a range of stone-focused jewelry for the summer, though. In Copenhagen, I also met with Ragbag Studio, another stylish, on-the-rise Danish brand that was prioritizing black onyx and freshwater stones for its latest collection titled Dualism. After I posted about my newfound obsession online, Loose Leaf Tea newsletter founder and bona fide fashion person Nicolette Mason swiped up on my story to gush about her red carnelian agate beaded necklace she scored on eBay for $20, and I knew I was on to something.
As a fashion editor, I always say that two is a coincidence and three is a trend—ergo, my love for the stone jewelry trend was cemented. Below, scroll to see some more stone jewelry inspiration, along with some of the best pieces to snag before summer is over and this trend sells out.
