Colour is no doubt one of the most powerful elements in any wardrobe. Even in the smallest doses, the right shades can transform an outfit, inject personality and uplift your mood. I've always appreciated this truth, but I must admit that my personal style has long leaned towards a neutral palette. Don't get me wrong—I adore seeing others in vibrant shades and frequently find myself bookmarking bold pieces in new collections, yet I've always felt most comfortable buried deep in neutrals. There's something about the simplicity and versatility of blacks, whites and beige tones that speaks to my minimalist heart and my transitional wardrobe.

That being said, there are a few pieces capable of coaxing me out of my comfort zone now and then, and this season, Mango has taken the lead. The brand, already a staple in my wardrobe, has consistently delivered timeless basics that form the backbone of my capsule wardrobe. I own many of the brand's foundational pieces, from perfectly cut trousers to versatile button-downs and crew-neck T-shirts. These are the items I reach for time and again, the unsung heroes of my everyday ensembles.

So, when Mango launched the new Through The Colour Lens collection, I was intrigued—and unsurprisingly, it didn't disappoint.

Mango's latest collection is a trend-hitting and colourful celebration of summer. It features a vibrant hot-weather palette with pieces in punchy orange, fuchsia and saturated green through to soft pastels. The offering is so energising that I was already planning my outfits before we (myself and Rebecca Rhys-Evans, senior fashion and beauty editor for branded content), could get our hands on the collection.

I was thinking about the light green cotton button-down and matching shorts for a nice summer brunch look or the semi-transparent printed trousers that'll be a beach favourite—they express different facets of my style, albeit a tad more colourful. The use of light and airy fabrics adds to the collection's summery feel, making each piece perfect for the incoming heat.

We sifted through the items to showcase the collection's heroes alongside other Mango staples and found some new favourite outfits along the way. Keep scrolling to see what we chose to wear and how we styled these fun finds.

Style Notes: For my first look, I decided to dip my toe in with the sheer Flowy Textured Blouse (£50) as the centrepiece. This flowy, textured layer in a striking shade of green added an instant touch of freshness and vitality to the otherwise white outfit. I felt that the combination of the green button-down with a premium cotton T-shirt and cotton parachute trousers created a perfect balance between delicate, structured and relaxed, with casual pants grounding a playful top.

The white leather ballerinas complemented the light, airy feel of the ensemble whilst the maxi Flower Pendant Earrings (£16) served as the final flourish, bringing a fun touch that tied the whole look together. This look is perfect for exploring new summer spots or enjoying a relaxed brunch with friends, and I can easily see myself wearing this to a garden party or for a leisurely afternoon at an outdoor café, where a gentle breeze would add to the fabric's movement.

Style Notes: Here, I decided to embrace the full spectrum of Mango's vibrant accessories. I started with the Ramie Shirt With Pockets in Ochre (£36) paired with the 100% Wideleg Linen Trousers (£50) in the same vivid hue—a bold choice for me but one that created a cohesive and eye-catching ensemble that immediately lifted my mood. The bright green oversized Natural Fibre Shopper Bag (£60) was the star of the look as it provided a bold contrast yet worked beautifully with the orange shirt and trousers. The Flower Pendant Earrings in Orange (£18) and black Ballerinas With Mesh Bracelet (£50) added extra personality, blending comfort and style.

This would be a perfect look for making a statement without sacrificing comfort, like for a vibrant outdoor market, shopping or sightseeing on holiday.

Style Notes: Rebecca, like me, also loves the ease of a classic and neutral wardrobe, but this all changes when the sun comes out. "Summer gives me an excuse to experiment with bold hues, prints and transparent fabrics," she says, and that is exactly what this look is all about. The Crochet Flare Trousers (£60) are the hero item, with their flared cut and bright colour. "These trousers should come with a warning label reading, 'Beware: these pants may cause compliments.' Within minutes of me stepping out to take these pictures, I had not one, not two, but three strangers tell me how much they loved them," she says.

Team Who What Wear UK is very into linen, and adding this white, folky button-down into the mix adds to the boho feel she was going for. "The embroidered detail makes it different from similar shirts—a little bohemian even, which I love." The gold Flower Pendant Earrings (£16) and the open-toe Metallic Snake Sandals (£46) from the new collection tied the whole look together for a gorgeously '70s aesthetic.

Style Notes: If Cher Horowitz were to put together a summer look, it would be this green and orange two-piece set from the new collection. And it would be very apt, as late-'90s and Y2K fashion is back in a big way. The sheer, pastel-green, checkered shirt layered over a knitted tank is a nod to this preppy yet playful aesthetic. "Okay, yes, it’s a short-short skirt, but the elasticated waist sits loosely on the hips, it doesn’t cling and it is (thankfully) lined. The shirt's loose cut feels breathable and I love that the sheer fabric lets you see what’s underneath, be it a bra, swimwear or a white tank like I've opted for here," says Rebecca.

The Strappy Heeled Kitten Heels (£36) are practically calling for a vintage card because, wow! They introduce a dash of colour to the whole outfit, contrasting beautifully with pastel hues.
