Free People Is My Go-to Summer Brand—21 New-in Pieces That Made Me Do a Double Take
Summer is definitely (finally!) here, and this season, my style mantra is minimalism with a splash of colour. I find that a neutral palette forms the foundation of my wardrobe, but a hint of a vibrant hue and a sprinkling of subtle patterns add that essential pop that ensures my summer outfits are anything but basic. Whilst my rotation is composed of timeless staples, there's one brand that continuously surprises me with its ability to marry simplicity with eye-catching designs: Free People.
As someone with a more neutral wardrobe, It may come as a surprise that Free People is one of my go-to stores. Most people associate the brand with bohemian prints and eclectic styles rather than the kind of muted elegance I often lean towards. Yet, Free People manages to deliver pieces that strike a perfect balance—think understated with a twist. Along with the laid-back Californian coastal vibes the brand is known for, its collections also include an array of refined basics in muted colours that align with my preference for quiet sophistication and just the occasional burst of colour.
Take the current new-in section as a perfect case in point. It's packed with pieces that would seamlessly fit into my wardrobe yet stand out enough to make a statement. Amongst my top picks are the linen-blend dresses that can transition effortlessly from day to night, airy blouses perfect for brunches and beach strolls; and sandals that combine comfort with just the right amount of flair. Styling these items will be my favourite part—I'm already planning how I'll pair a sleek midi dress with strappy sandals for a garden party, and I know I'll be throwing on a lightweight blouse over tailored shorts for a casual yet polished look.
Naturally, when Free People unveiled its latest arrivals, I couldn't resist a deep dive into the summer offering. Below, discover the 21 new-in pieces I can't wait to incorporate into my warm-weather wardrobe.
