This Sydney Buyer Has Revealed Her Top 10 Pieces at Fashion Week
Fashion Week Australia is undeniably an exciting time for those both in and outside the industry but depending on your relationship with fashion, everyone pays attention to different things during the shows. While some look to the runways for the season’s upcoming trends, and others like to imagine what pieces they might invest in when the new season rolls around, buyers have a particularly challenging job.
As a fashion buyer, a keen focus is required, as well as the ability to anticipate which trends will actually be noteworthy and which ones will quickly fizzle out. To say it takes a sharp eye would be an understatement, and we never fail to be impressed by the buyers who seem to get it right time and time again. To get a little insight, we reached out to Eva Galambos of the iconic Paddington-based boutique Parlour X.
As a tried-and-tested buyer, Galambos broke down her favourite shows for us, explaining exactly why these ones made her list. Taking note of her favourites, we’ve even pulled out a few similar pieces to shop below. Romance Was Born
"How can I go past the actual show? It was transportive with a Twin Peaks undertone and surrealist element which I loved. Two of my favourite looks were the pleated top and pant ensemble; cool but still so wearable and versatile. I also loved this chic metallic pleated dress, very reminiscent of the ‘30's. A memorable evening, thank you Luke & Anna!"
St.George NextGen
"I cannot tell you how excited I am about Chris Ran Lim. His collection blew me away for being so cohesive, clever and yet wearable. All the looks were polished, tailored and considered but with edge. His use of knitwear was outstanding, even incorporating this onto the shoes. As a Next Gen judge, I was really impressed by the overall collective of designers and also loved this look by OFRO."
Christopher Esber
"I enjoyed the interesting knitwear treatment on this blue dress and the two shorter dresses with lace/fabrication combinations. The lace was luxurious, very light and sheer. "
Camilla and Marc
"I like the adaptation of the metallic trend I recently saw in the European show collections, and I’m also really enjoying this trend personally. So for me, I adored this pink ensemble and feel Camilla and Marc did it best."
Ten Pieces
"This collection felt really elevated and cohesive with the incorporation of wovens, suiting and outerwear."
Macgraw
"Oh Macgraw, it's DNA is succinct and this collection was elevated. The red dress offered colour with whimsy. I also adored this sexy pink 80’s lace look, pairing it back with red shoes—clever."
