8 New Things Fashion People Are Talking About This Week

If it seems like fashion news is moving a mile a minute, well, you're not alone. Despite our numerous social media feeds and perpetual press releases, it can be hard to keep up with the latest industry news—even as full-time editors—which is why we're boiling it down to just the basics. Here are the eight new things fashion people are talking about right now:

New Shoes on the Block

Just in time for holiday shopping, Jimmy Choo has opened a sleek new NYC flagship store at 667 Madison Avenue. Among the brand's signature shoes and handbags, you'll find expert-curated vintage furniture and objets d’art that create an exceptionally chic shopping experience. Interior designer Nebihe Cihan used top-of-the-line materials such as walnut, travertine marble, velvet, hand-worked glass, and ceramic to complement the luxurious Jimmy Choo products.

Watch This Space

It's only fitting that the watch industry's best brand should open its doors on the most elite block in town. In collaboration with GEARYS, Rolex has just unveiled a shiny new boutique on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and timepiece enthusiasts are no doubt, well, enthused. The 6200-square-foot store is just as elegant as every other Rolex outpost but boasts unique, California-cool touches like surfboards and a Hollywood mural. The boutique also features a service center should your watch need some maintenance.

Fashionable Florence

When I travel, nothing delights me more than staying at a hotel with impeccable interior design. Right now, there's one chic property at the top of my wishlist: the St. Regis in Florence, which has just collaborated with the iconic Italian porcelain brand Ginori 1735 on a new dining experience dubbed Café Ginori. You can expect to see the homeware brand's stamp on everything from the wallpaper and seat cushions to the plates and coasters. Speaking of coasters, they're available to purchase should you want to take home a stylish souvenir. After launching in Florence, Café Ginori will also open at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi, in 2025 with more global locations to follow.

Best in Class

As one of the greatest tennis players of all time, Novak Djokovic has inspired countless athletes worldwide. Now, he has inspired something a bit different: creating a special watch that's just as groundbreaking as his career. Swiss watch brand Hublot has just unveiled the Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic 42mm Watch, and it's truly something to marvel at. In a press release, the brand explained the unique, sustainable materials used in the design: "Hublot developed a composite made up of 25 Head racquets as well as 17 dark blue and 15 light blue Lacoste polos used by Djokovic during his 2023 season, the year in which the world witnessed Djokovic make history and break records with 24 Grand Slams singles titles." How's that for innovation?

On the Scent

Calling all beauty buffs: Dior has just unveiled its first standalone boutique in North America dedicated to fragrances, skincare, and makeup. Located next to the existing Dior menswear and womenswear boutiques in New York City's SoHo neighborhood, the opening comes just in time for the holiday shopping rush. The elegantly appointed boutique is not your average shop—you can expect a "bespoke Haute Parfumerie experience" that includes plenty of personalization options. The Dior Fragrance & Beauty Boutique is located at 109 Greene Street.

Longines Mini DolceVita Watch in Yellow Gold

Good as Gold

This story begins in 1927 when Longines debuted a striking rectangular watch that quickly became an icon. Seventy years later, in 1997, that watch inspired the DolceVita collection. Fast forward another 26 years and we arrive in late 2023 when the Swiss brand shrunk the timepiece, offering customers a dainty new mini version. With some help from ambassadors Jennifer Lawrence and Barbara Palvin, the petite watch enjoyed immediate success. Cut to the present day: Longines has just announced yet another update. The elegant Mini DolceVita will now be offered in 18-carat yellow gold and rose gold. Shop the stunning new styles here.

Museum-Worthy

From November 16, 2024, to July 6, 2025, The Brooklyn Museum will be displaying an exciting new exhibition called Solid Gold. It will feature over 400 gold objects from several industries, including fashion, film, art, and music. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing the Greek wreath pictured above, which dates back to the 2nd century BCE, as well as sumptuous Dior pieces from the house's 1954 H-Line.

Architectural Adventures

No other designer combines fashion and architecture quite like Louis Vuitton's Nicolas Ghesquière. Case in point? The house's new women's Cruise 2025 campaign photographed at Barcelona's most iconic architectural landmarks, including La Pedrera and Fundació Joan Miró. Lensed by Jamie Hawkesworth, the images evoke "a sense of escapism and the spirit of travel inherent to Louis Vuitton’s DNA," per a press release.

Associate Director, Fashion News

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
