As someone who works in journalism, I enjoy seeing it portrayed on the big (and the small) screen. There's something about watching what someone else thinks my industry is all about. And whether it's sometimes embarrassingly a little too close to the truth, or because it's so far-fetched it's hilarious, there's nothing I love more than watching a storyline that focuses on fictional magazine editors. Of course, the thing I love the most is seeing how they dress (which is just marginally more important than their incredible put-downs). Whether it's because their style is distinctive or because it's super chic, keep scrolling for my rundown on my favourite fictional editors on screen and how they dress.
Style Notes: Bow down to the queen of magazine editors on film. Meryl Streep plays Miranda Priestly, editor of the fictional magazine Runway, and it's so utterly brilliant. Whether it's a withering, oh-so-quotable put-down ("Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking") or just a touch of side-eye, Miranda is someone you don't want to cross. She also has an incredible wardrobe.

Style Notes: There's something so wonderful about Lana Jong in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Maybe it's because she's super elegant and her pearls give off more than a whiff of Coco Chanel. Or perhaps it's because she makes everyone take their shoes off in the editorial meeting (spoiler: This doesn't happen in real life).

Style Notes: Murphy Brown isn't a fashion editor. But she is a journalist with an incredible wardrobe, which is why we've included her. Thanks to her tough-as-nails persona, she's often spotted in bold colours and more masculine tailoring.

Red is the colour that suits everyone and is a fantastic power-dressing hue.
Style Notes: For anyone who was a kid during the '90s, this film brings back a lot of memories—and not all of them are good. Spaghetti strap dresses (good), flower pendants (okay) and chopsticks as hair accessories (bad), all feature in this. And we wouldn't change it for the world.

While Jenna Rink in the '90s wouldn't wear this, the Jenna of today would wear one of the must-have dresses of the season, such as this Ganni dress.
Style Notes: Ah, the journalist who is unable to stop themselves from shopping. Nope, that doesn't sound familiar at all (*looks to camera*). While Rebecca Bloomwood is unable to stop using her credit card, her love of purple is very A/W 17.

We could see Rebecca wearing this. A sure-fire way to get spotted during fashion week.
Style Notes: For the eagle-eyed, you'll recognise that Candice Bergen (who also played Murphy Brown) played Vogue editor Enid Mead in Sex and the City. Enid is a little scary, but she is always super chic and loves a great print.
