We're Always Talking About Trends, But Which Ones Are We Actually Wearing?

As editors, we research, discuss, and write about trends a lot. Take a quick look through our site or spend a day spying on us at the office and that should become more than clear. However, with so many items and styling tricks coming and going every season, month, and even week (plus the fact that everyone has their own unique sense of style), we can’t possibly wear every single item the fashion set deems "of the moment" ourselves.

So what do the Who What Wear fashion editors wear? You’re about to find out. From the S/S 20 trends some of us are testing out early to the F/W 20 staples we’ve all been sporting nonstop, below I’ve rounded up the seven style tricks and pieces that are both edit-team tested and real life–approved. To see each one in action and do some shopping along the way, just keep scrolling.

1. Vests

Whether you choose to style yours on its own as Anna has above or as part of a three-piece suit, mark our words that vests are destined to blow up in 2020. Why not start wearing them now?

2. Knit Sets

Ever since Katie Holmes broke the internet with her Khaite knit set, the trend has skyrocketed beyond what we ever would have imagined. Now that Zara is finally on board, we have confirmation that it’s not going away for a while.

3. Knee-High Boots + Trousers

Knee boots and trousers is not only a favorite combo among our whole team right now but also the fashion world at large right now. Try it for work or on the weekend and we promise you won’t regret it.

4. Croissant Bags

Sure, it sounds niche, but take a good look around and you'll see that croissant bags are silently taking over right below our very noses. From brands everyone knows like Bottega Veneta to more under-the-radar brand Marargent (as seen on Ally above), this is the season's must-have shape.

5. Giant Sleeves

Forget about a little puff—if you really want to make a (stylish) statement, you have to go big or go home. As my colleague Judith has demonstrated above, the risk is worth the sartorial reward.

6. Baseball Caps

According to countless S/S 20 runways, baseball caps are about to blow up, but you don't have to take our word for it. For proof, look no further than ever-stylish EmRata.

7. Suiting

The fashion-suit trend is truly the gift that keeps on giving. Whether you opt for something out-of-the-box like a shorts suit or choose to take a classic set and style it in a unique way (as Kat has above), the trend is here to stay, so you might as well dive in.

Editor-at-Large

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2024, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
