If You Want to Look On-Trend This Fall, Wear One of These 6 Colors
With the fall season upon us, I'm officially ready to make some welcome wardrobe updates. One of the easiest ways to reinvigorate my closet for a new season is by adding a fresh touch of color to my ensembles. Since this is my favorite subject (I am a bona fide nerd when it comes to color theory), I'm always excitedly looking out for what hues dominate the runway shows and keep a close eye on Pantone's trend forecasts.
Luckily, fall/winter's color trends do not disappoint. I'll certainly still be leaning into the ubiquitous all-black looks and sophisticated optic whites spotted all over the fall/winter 2023 runways, but today, I'm focusing on the unexpected and head-turning hues that are unquestionably getting me excited for the season ahead.
Whether you add a touch of color with an accessory or go for a head-to-toe look, these six colors below—from glacial blue to fiery red—will have you looking altogether on-trend this fall.
If you only introduce one color trend into your wardrobe this season, make it traffic-stopping fiery red. The bold chili-pepper hue was spotted on practically every runway show in the fall/winter 2023 collections, from cherry-red dresses at Fendi to unmissable suits at Ferragamo. The color is surprisingly easy to style, pairing well with blue denim and neutrals such as beige and gray.

Calm, cool, and fresh for fall, glacial blue dominated on the runways, spotted on everything from silky dresses to gauzy knit tops and oversize coats. The subtle, sultry shade oozes winter vibes and is as versatile as any neutral in your closet.

The forecast for fall/winter 2023 is overcast, cloudy, and moody, and I couldn't be more excited. There was no denying gray's tremendous presence on the runways—from businesscore suits at Gucci to sensible coats at Max Mara and sumptuous knits at Prada. The corporate color palette is anything but boring this year with a myriad of chic styles, silhouettes, and fabrics to choose from.

It's not fall without a palette of autumnal brown shades, and this season, I'm particularly enamored with the warm, earthy caramel hues that presented themselves on everything from translucent dresses to traditional trenches and wool coats and even hot pants. It's unquestionably one of the easiest colors to integrate into your wardrobe this season.

There were a whole host of unexpected yellow hues on the fall/winter 2023 runways, ranging from punchy and saturated shades to softer buttery hues—which we're focused on today. The perfect alternative to white and cream, a pale-yellow palette feels minimalistic, clean, and fresh, whether worn in the form of blazers, coats, chunky knits, or sleek maxi dresses.

Metallics have been trending for the past few seasons and show no signs of slowing down for fall and winter. Whether you opt for a statement skirt or dip your toes into the trend via a pair of silver shoes or a handbag, shimmery silver will have you looking altogether on-trend this season.
