Fall Starts in 2 Days—Here Are the Buys We're Prioritizing Over Everything Else
Right now, as it's 72ºF and sunny (at least in NYC), fall weather can seem a bit out of reach. However, if you look at it in terms of the number of days—which will vary depending on how quickly you get to reading this—and then allow for the fact that there’s ordering, waiting, and possibly some returning and exchanging to do, you're actually pretty late when it comes to getting next season’s wardrobe all set. After all, you literally have two days, and while you might not get your wardrobe fully ready by September 22, you at least want to be close. In order to help move things along, we figured we’d share the fall buys Team Who What Wear is prioritizing over everything else out there, which, as I’m sure you know, is a lot.
From pants to dresses to, of course, boots, there was no shortage of great finds among the team and at every price point, too. To see everything we’re eyeing for the months ahead and read about why while you're at it, simply continue on.
I feel like this lightweight sweater will be my layering hero this season.
These boots look way more expensive than their $60 price tag and just might be the gateway I need back into the world of knee boots.
"A tailored vest is one of my favorite pieces of the season. It's modern, chic, and versatile in that you can wear it on its own or layered."
"The fall collections brought a range of updated cable-knit sweaters. This style is fresh and looks quite cozy."
"I live in moto jackets during fall, but a leather trench also feels just right. This investment piece is gorgeous."
"This blazer looks so expensive but only costs $50? I'm not going to question it; I'm just buying it. "
"I always love buying a new black bag at the start of fall. Even though it might not feel super exciting compared to a trendier handbag, it's a way to make me feel a little more joyous grabbing a black handbag time after time because at least it's new."
"A bra top might seem like an odd must-have fall item, but I live in blazers come the fall and winter. One of my favorite ways to style them is with loose trousers and a cool bra top. This one feels basic enough to go with everything yet still cool and forward."
"The knit-dress selection this season is out of this world. It's almost hard to pick a few. My current favorites are printed options that don't need much styling to look cool."
"Tall boots are the only shoes you'll see me sporting this fall (besides my slippers). They make anything look polished, whether they're paired with fitted jeans or a midi skirt."
"I rely on my leather pieces every fall, so I think it's worth investing in a few—especially versatile silhouettes that you know you'll get extra wear out of. Nanushka's vegan leather feels like butter, so I know I'll be reaching for this skirt often."
"The epitome of an 'L.A. sweater'—not very functional in terms of warmth but made out of a cozy knit material nonetheless."
"These really don't need an introduction, but as you can see, I'm in a weird pant stage right now. I like something wacky that I can pull out for fashion events."
"My favorite sneakers at the moment are Salomon. They're just so comfortable and cool in an 'ugly' way. The warm burgundy tone is on point for fall."
"I finally have some dressy events on my calendar and just ordered this piece to wear to some of them."
"Cargo pants are the fall trend I didn't see coming, but now I can't stop thinking about them."
"And now, the sneakers I'll be living in for the foreseeable future."
"This sweater is the best of so many worlds."
"I might be too old for jeans covered in smiley faces, but does that make me want them any less? No."
"Fall has barely started, but I already know this shacket will be one of the handiest things in my closet. While wearing it with the matching skirt is a total vibe, throwing it on with jeans or leggings is how I'll really be wearing it 90% of the time."
"So you're going to tell me this pleated leather stunner rings up for just $28? I've never added something to my cart so quickly."
"It's true. I've been influenced by TikTok. I love how these boots read as a combo between Western boots and bucket boots, arguably two of the biggest trends right now, but are still really effortless. I plan on wearing them with a big blazer and bare legs."
