How to Wear the Shoes Every It Girl Is Wearing This Fall

Your choice of shoes can make or break your look. So for fall, challenge yourself to try two key styles: menswear-inspired shoes (like loafers) and Mary Janes. Brittany Xavier of Thrifts and Threads teamed up with us and Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH to try two tasks from our Who What Wear 30-Day Wardrobe Challenge: Style menswear-inspired shoes with a feminine outfit and pair updated Mary Janes with a cool jumpsuit.

“For the first look, the most difficult part was going through my closet and finding a feminine outfit. I have more denim than I’ll ever need, but choosing the right feminine pieces to pair with the menswear-inspired shoes was more difficult than I thought it would be, so I went for a black belt to tie the look together.”

“This challenge forced me to look at my entire shoe collection differently and see which ones I could get creative with. It was important that the feminine outfit I was wearing had more of a muted color palette. That way it went well with the black patent menswear-inspired shoes.”

“For the second look, finding a jumpsuit that showed off the heel height was at first difficult. This jumpsuit was from a spring collection, so I wanted to make it look like fall with the blue suede Mary Janes.”

“Classic Mary Janes add sophistication to your look, and even though they may not be shoes you normally think to pair with a jumpsuit, it’s very on trend and a cute way to update your jumpsuit vibe.”
