I Pay Attention to the Details—These 7 Accessory Trends Are Outfit Makers
I'm an accessory person. While I clearly adore clothes and enjoy experimenting with trends in that department, I always gravitate toward bags, shoes, and jewelry first when I'm shopping. What can I say—it's all about the details for me. More often than not, you'll find me in a pretty simple outfit (like a black sweater and jeans) that I elevate even more with eye-catching extras. With all that in mind, I thought I'd share some of the fall and winter accessory trends I'm particularly into at the moment.
The pieces you'll find in my curation are true outfit makers in my eyes because they can take any ensemble (including the pared-down looks I like) to the next level because of their forward nature. If you keep scrolling, you'll uncover everything from the It handbag silhouette to a shoe style that's equal parts comfortable and chic. All that and more is coming at you below.
1. Chunky Loafers
Loafers continue to be a top shoe choice for the fashion set, myself included. The chunkier silhouettes are particularly noteworthy for a comfortable and chic look. You can also easily dress them up or down.
2. Classic Shoulder Bags
Classic shoulder bags with modern details—like this ever-so-popular Saint Laurent stunner and this Gucci bag—are where it's at this fall and winter. Also, don't sleep on Italist for a great selection of gorgeous shoulder bags.
3. Shearling Extras
Shearling dominated the fall and winter collections as a cozy accent to shoes and handbags.
4. Unconventional Pearl Earrings
Pearl jewelry is still shining bright this season—particularly those unique, offbeat pearl earrings that feel forward and so elegant.
5. Tinted Sunglasses
I'm so into tinted shades right now. In fact, Sunglass Hut is marking its 50th anniversary, and Chanel Iman is working with the brand to celebrate. She's into the trend, too. "The Versace sunnies from the limited-edition collection are one of my favorites," she said. "They encapsulate all the '70s vibes with black frames, bright-orange tint, and the Versace gold emblems on the rim."
6. Kerchiefs
Kerchiefs in various prints and colors were a staple for many throughout the summer months (as you can see here), and the trend will carry on through this season as a special way to bring a directional feel to a silhouette.
7. XL Totes
Big tote bags ruled the runways. While I still love a mini bag, I'm personally into this trend because of the functionality—you can fit legit everything inside.
