One of my favorite takeaways from Emily DiDonato's daily routine is that she is all about building up the small habits (making her bed, writing in her gratitude journal, etc.) to help her set the tone for the day. The model and co-founder of the new essentials-only skincare line, Covey, recently announced her pregnancy to the world. Now that she's in her second trimester, DiDonato is prioritizing making seamless swaps in her routine safer for her and her baby.

Good morning! Every day, I wake up between 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., which as you can tell, means that I'm definitely a morning person. After not feeling my best during my first trimester, I'm finally feeling like myself again that I'm in my second trimester, which means I'm easing back into my usual morning routine. Routines keep me sane and I genuinely look forward to my mornings because of my small rituals.

First thing's first, I say hi to my puppy, Izzy (@frizzyizzythedoodle). We got her last summer, and to say I'm obsessed with her is an understatement.

After a few minutes of snuggling, I make the bed, which I do every single morning. I'm all about small habits that you can stick with, and spending a few minutes making my bed each day is one of those small wins that sets the tone for your day.

I love starting my mornings off with an iced oat milk latte, but because I'm pregnant, I've had to switch to decaf. I use Nespresso's decaf capsules and always use a giant mason jar and glass straw to drink it out of. Am I the only one who thinks a mason jar makes your coffee taste better?!

While I sip my latte, I'll write in my Five-Minute Journal, which I recently added into my routine when I found out I was pregnant. Even though I felt awful in my first trimester, writing in this journal every morning really helped me stay positive and grounded. It's also such a great way to keep track of this amazing chapter in my life!

I've been keeping up with my virtual workouts, which I'm really proud of. I lift weights two times a week with my trainer, Daniela Brita (@daniela.wellness). I love a workout that feels challenging, which is why I love working with weights.

I always look forward to my post-workout smoothie—it motivates me to get through a workout on those days that I'm just not feeling it. I use spinach, yogurt, organic oats, organic blueberries, 1/2 banana, collagen protein, and hemp hearts to get the perfect texture. This smoothie fills me up until lunch.

I love to cleanse my face in the shower with Covey First of All Cleanser. After showering, I've been using sweet almond oil to moisturize my skin, which is I got from the book Bringing Up Bébé. Apparently, this is what French women use while pregnant, so I'm in!

Then, I'll follow up with Covey Next Up Vitamin C Serum. Pregnancy is tough because many products with active ingredients become off-limits, which is why vitamin C is a great choice. It's great for collagen production, protects the skin from free radicals, and helps with hyperpigmentation. Now that I'm becoming a mom, running a business, and modeling, I need fewer products that work overtime!

Finally, I'll use Covey Last But Not Least Moisturizer. It has a whipped-like texture, is hydrating and moisturizing, and looks amazing under makeup (or on its own). I always apply an SPF after, and I've been loving Supergoop Mineral Sheerscreen SPF 30 lately.

I finish off with my everyday makeup. I keep it super simple with bronzer, brows, mascara, and a little lip tint.
