I don't know about you, but for me, every fall it feels like a new beginning. I'm not sure if it's that end-of-summer feeling or if it's that back-to-school nostalgia, but the fall months feel like the perfect time to reinvent yourself. The best place to start is your closet. The start of a new season is always a good time to take stock of which items you wore last season that you loved and will be keeping and also which ones you're ditching for this new one.

Once you've gotten rid of the old and are ready to replenish some items in your wardrobe, it's time to figure out what your style aesthetic is going to be for the new season. This is my favorite part about the seasons changing: You can have a "tomato girl summer" filled with Lisa Says Gah printed pants and breezy coastal accessories and go into fall with an "old money" aesthetic filled with high-quality tailored basics and bouclé jackets.

This fall I decided to bring in the big guns and ask our editorial team what style aesthetics they're loving for the upcoming season. Eight of our editors gave me their two cents, and trust me when I say this: You're going to want to bookmark all of them.

Keep scrolling to see which vibe I'm leaning into for fall along with some other editor-approved aesthetics for fall.

I have always had a thing for Western style. My mom is from Colorado and since I was a kid, I have been traveling there all the time where we would stop at Western shops or go shopping for vintage cowboy boots or fringe jackets. After a recent trip to Montana, my love affair for all things Western wear was reignited, and this fall, I am fully leaning into it. I live in NYC, though, so I'm mixing in some of my "quiet luxury" pieces with some of my favorite Western ones. Think cashmere cowgirl. I'm calling this aesthetic elevated Western chic.

"My fall vibe could be described as elevated yet low-key. I'm going to be leaning heavily into modern basics like relaxed denim and shirting, suiting, and more."

"Autumn in Paris is my vibe this fall. I'm leaning into Parisian classics with a trend-forward touch, think longline trench coats, relaxed button-downs, sleek miniskirts, flat Mary Janes, and effortless sweaters styled in a way that feels nonchalant yet polished."

"Quiet luxury may be a buzzword that people have heard way too much but it's really resonated with me, so with every order I've made so far for this fall, I have timeless and effortless pieces at the forefront. I want to build a closet that I can easily mix and match and that will last me for decades without looking too try-hard, so I've been investing in quality denim, elevated flats, luxe knits, and more."

"Elevated granola-curious is one of the aesthetics I'm exploring this fall (doing a deeper dive in an upcoming story!). I am leaning into the 'granola' vibes but with chic, elevated takes on the pieces that are typically associated with the look. That said, I'm embracing Birkenstock Boston clogs (especially worn with textured socks), cozy fleece jackets, relaxed jeans, and other utilitarian-inspired pieces like chore coats and cargo pants."

"Sporty chic is the vibe I'm going for fall. In college, I was always wearing sneakers, track pants, and hoodies. I styled them in a way that was cool to me at the time, and as I got older, I slowly tucked away sportier pieces in favor of elevating my wardrobe. But now I've realized that I don't have to completely pack away my sportier side and can incorporate a few pieces into my more 'adult' wardrobe. After all, if Miu Miu can put hoodies on the runway and make them look incredibly chic, then anything is possible. This fall, my outfits will consist of track pants with blazers, sneakers with sleek dresses, and hoodies over skirts."

"Color dabbling is the fall vibe I’m going for this year. I plan on wearing lots of neutrals with pops of color, which is something I’ve seen a lot of in street style this month. I’ve been shopping for colorful accessories, shoes, and sweaters I can drape over my shoulders. It’s a low-commitment way to make my outfits a bit more fun."

"Schiaparelli has been all over my mood board as of late, especially with all the sculpted jackets, massive '80s earrings, and stretchy fabric headbands that made up its fall/winter 2023 ready-to-wear collection. For fall, the aesthetic goal I'm after is one I'm dubbing '80s glamour for influences from the couture house and the decade's rich opulence. I've already begun mixing a few of those aforementioned items into my outfits and plan to keep them in rotation all season."
