What to Wear on NYE, According to Our Editors
Anyone who calls themselves a "fashion girl" likely considers New Year's Eve the best holiday of the whole year to dress up for—at least, that's how we see it. Our editors can be found planning our outfits months ahead of December 31 because, well, what's not to love about all the glitter, shimmer, and glam to be had on the holiday? While, yes, the holiday does see its fair share of clichéd short sparkly dresses and your standard pumps, there's definitely a way to dress that feels both festive and true to your personal style. To make the whole outfit planning process easier on you, we're sharing the pieces that you can expect to see in any of our editors' looks this year.
Whether you're taking Lauren's suggestion and topping off your party dress with a statement-making faux-fur coat or pulling a Kat and adorning your earlobes with a pair of party-ready crystal earrings, take a cue from one of the following editor-approved New Year's Eve outfits to ensure you look as chic as any fashion editor. I also want to highlight how Erin transformed her jeans and white tee with the addition of a luxe jewel-tone robe and fancy flats, proving that even more low-key festivities can still call for something fun and out of the ordinary.

HAMMERED SATIN SLIP DRESS
There are slip dresses, and then there are slip dresses in luxurious hammered satin. The texture catches the light more, so your overall look is much more luminous, like the above dress that Kristen simply styled with a bold lip.
CRYSTAL FRINGE EARRINGS
Hanging crystals are a major holiday trend. Whether they're hanging off the hem of trousers, dangling from the strap of a heel, or dripping from a drop earring, this is the It accessory of the season and, thus, of New Year's Eve, as Kat knows well.
FANCY BLACK HEELS
It should go without saying that any NYE party outfit would greatly benefit from a pair of black heels, but it wouldn't hurt to show you once more. Case in point: Nicole's strappy embellished pair that deserved its own Instagram.
STATEMENT COAT
Lauren knows that cold weather is no excuse not to show up to the New Year's Eve party in a full look. So you opted for a shorter dress? Throw on a statement-making coat like her faux-fur leopard style to ensure your look is both chic and warm.
LITTLE BLACK TOP
NYE really puts on the pressure to come up with a next-level look. But if you're all out of ideas, remember that a little black top with classic jeans will never fail you. Simply look for interesting details to make yours stand out, like a cutout (à la Judith's here) or unconventional neckline.
LUXE ROBE
Not all plans for December 31 involve a party dress and heels. If your celebration is on the casual end of the spectrum, take a note from Erin, who so expertly styled her jeans and a tee with a satin robe coat for added style.
PARTY PANTS
I'll be the first to admit that I'm a pants kind of girl through and through. So, you can bet that on New Year's Eve, I'll be breaking out my fanciest trousers (and marrying them to an equally festive crop top) to ring in the New Year.
