Not All Street Style Is Out-There—These 7 Simple Looks Are So Easy to Copy
We admit street style can get a little wild. There are some people who go all out for photographers in fabulous tulle dresses and heels higher than you could ever imagine walking in (let alone looking effortlessly fabulous in)—and we have the utmost respect for them. But it’s not all feathers and tutus. Much street-style spotting occurs during fashion month when most of us attending are running around from show to show, jumping on the Tube and dealing with gale force winds as we try to scoff a Pret sandwich before the next event begins. This also means our outfits actually need to be easy, comfortable and mostly practical, as well as chic.
That’s not to say these looks are any less inspiring. On the contrary, it’s often the more understated, wearable outfits that get us the most excited when we spot them across the runway or on the streets because they’re still fashionable but we can actually copy them when we get home. Whether it’s a coordinated pairing, interesting layering trick or standout accessory, the key to these anything-but-boring, simple looks are the subtleties in the styling. That is to say you can still make a fashion week–worthy look out of classic pieces, some of which you probably already own, just with a few clever tweaks and additions.
The inspiration from the street style is one of our favourite bits about working in the fashion industry. And for 2024, we're looking to the street style standouts we can copy-and-paste this season. Keep scrolling to see and shop the looks.
7 Chic, Easy-to-Copy Street Style Outfits I'm Re-Creating:
1. Longline Blazer + Relaxed Jeans
Style Notes: So simple but so effective. A good pair of jeans always elevates any outfit (and will carry you through many years to come), but this season it's all about denim that's loose in the leg for laidback appeal.
Shop the Look:
2. Leather Coat + Mini Skirt + Mary Janes
Style Notes: A leather coat continues to be a key piece each autumn/winter. Pair it with a fun mini and classic Mary Janes and you're set. (Risk takers may enjoy a nod to the sheer trend with a lace top that shows just the right amount of skin, but be sure to check the forecast first.)
Shop the Look:
Consider this an investment buy you'll wear for years to come.
The easiest way to bear skin, while still leaving a little to the imagination.
3. Faux Fur Jacket + Leather Trousers + Chunky Boots
Style Notes: It doesn't get comfier, cosier, or more chic than pairing a fluffy jacket with sleek leather. Nod to rock and roll styling with a chunky Chelsea boot, and get ready to stomp the streets.
Shop the Look:
There's a reason our editors rely on ASOS' premium quality basics.
Forget unflattering, spray-on leather leggings, a looser straight-leg trouser is the secret to nailing the look.
Who knew a practical, all-weather boot could look so chic too?
4. Head-to-Toe Tonal
Style Notes: Layering block colour is failsafe way to ensure an outfit looks carefully assembled, and rich creams and whites will breathe new life into what was once your dark, A/W wardrobe.
Shop the Look:
You can always trust Isabel Marant for timeless styles like this trench.
One thing that never goes out of style is a classic court shoe–especially in a versatile, neutral tone.
5. Belted Coat + Straight Leg Trousers + Loafers
Style Notes: A cool, classic like a soft, belted coat and a killer shoe is a winning combination you can always trust, and while we'll always have an affinity for the wide-leg trouser, a cropped straight-leg is perfect to show off a timeless shoe.
Shop the Look:
You'll wear a simple chino with everything from trainers to strappy sandals.
6. White Shirt + Jeans + Strappy Sandals
Style Notes: Keep things classic with a chic jeans and shirt combo. Easy to throw on, this timeless pairing will always look expensive.Simply swap out your heeled sandals for a pair of boots once the temperature drops.
Shop the Look:
Is there anything better than a classic shirt?
7. Blazer + Bermuda Shorts
Style Notes: As we get closer to the start of autumn, it can be difficult to find transitional outfits that still look stylish. An oversized blazer and a longer Bermuda short is an elegant early-autumn pairing that you can take effortlessly from day to night.
Shop the Look:
Sure, short shorts are great, but have you tried them in this classy longer length?
There's something so chic about a two-toned pump.
