8 Pieces We're Buying for a Low-Key Holiday Wardrobe
Sponsor Content Created With AG
We hit the Cyber Monday sales pretty hard. The result? Packages upon packages of regrettable pieces we pulled the trigger on in 30%-off excitement—and then ended up returning. So when we (finally) got around to sending back our returns, we went back to more disciplined shopping, aka searching for pieces we’ll actually wear right now (and straight through into 2019). After poking around, we landed on AG’s low-key holiday collection that’s highly wearable and worth every cent. We’re talking versatile suiting separates, red sweaterdresses, and the kind of skinny jeans that make our legs look 10 miles long. So start printing the return labels for those your unnecessary sale purchases and see our favorites from AG’s holiday collection.
Imagine wearing this sweaterdress with knee-high boots and statement earrings. It’s like a modern-’80s dream come true—and ultra comfy for that full plate of pasta you plan on finishing.
Worn with the pants you’ll see below or with a pair of skinny jeans, this oversize tweed jacket is the cocoon we’ve been searching for all season. With a sleek one-button closure, you can pop this over a turtleneck in any color.
These menswear-inspired trousers are perfect when worn with a second-skin black turtleneck tucked in. Accessorize with gold jewelry and white shoes for an easy holiday look.
We all have that one denim jacket we turn to time and time again, but do we all have a red one? This alternative to the classic denim piece is a fun holiday option that adds a statement to even the most casual of outfits.
Skinny jeans are great and all, but if you're feeling extra this season (and want to spend your holiday bonus on something special) we suggest going for a leather skinny pant since they’re particularly good to dress up in the evening. When bundling up for a chic night out, style an oversize cable knit with the pants, balanced with floss-thin strappy sandals (if your toes can handle the cold!). Otherwise, chic white boots will do the trick.
A pinstripe blazer with a touch of sheen is the holiday version of the plaid option we’ve been wearing for basically two years straight. We’re into wearing it as a top with the matching pants (and some killer heels and earrings) for a modern holiday party look.
Sidenote: We love an exposed button fly. By day, a pair of white sneakers and an even whiter tee will have this feeling very Victoria Beckham.
Nayiri is Who What Wear's senior fashion editor for branded content and based in her hometown, Los Angeles. It all began in 2014 when she landed an internship at the company and never looked back. While she does love writing her fair share of fashion stories, her heart really belongs in the brainstorm room, where she has fun strategizing different ways to create content with our fashion partners so that you engage with the brands you know and love. Her style tends to be more classic (she loves a good black-and-white look with gold accessories), and white pumps are kind of her thing. If she had to pick one person's wardrobe to raid, it would be Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's, and she also has a major obsession with interior design. She's a mom to a 1-year-old baby girl named Sophie, and she fully plans on training her to spot fashion trends by the time she's 10. That's all!
