9 Easy Shoe Trends Celebrities Are Wearing This Summer
Celebrities wearing shoes is something we've talked about a lot less than usual this summer, as we're all wearing shoes a lot less often than usual this summer (unless they're house shoes, of course). I don't know about you, but I've noticed that my summer shoe collection is lacking a bit at the moment, especially when it comes to casual styles that I can do casual things in (which are the only types of things there are to do right now).
As you might expect, celebrity-loved shoe trends are low in heels and high in comfortable, mostly flat styles this summer, which means that they're far more accessible than in other years when red carpets were still a thing. Instead, among the celebs below, you'll find nine trends that will likely suit your summer 2020 activities (or lack thereof). Scroll to shop the trends that celebs such as Zoë Kravitz, Kendall Jenner, and Emma Roberts are wearing.
Colorful Sneakers
As Winnie Harlow proves, summer is the time to bust out of the neutral rut in favor of fun sneakers that look great in the sun.
On Winnie Harlow: Puma RS-X3 Puzzle Sneakers ($110)
Birkenstock Sandals
Elsa Hosk can be considered a trusted resource for shoe trends, given her impeccable style. She hit the nail on the head with these Birkenstocks—they're everywhere right now.
On Elsa Hosk: Totême top and pants; Bottega Veneta Large The Pouch Clutch ($2700); Birkenstock shoes
Fisherman Sandals
Bet you didn't see this one coming, but fisherman sandals are the microtrend The Row started, and cool brands like Staud are jumping on board (no pun intended).
On Emma Roberts: Modcloth skirt
Mary Jane Flats
This is a trend we've had our eye on for a while, and it's really starting to blow up (thanks in part to The Row, again). It looks especially cool with little white socks à la Zoë Kravitz.
On Zoë Kravitz: Saint Laurent Black Large Niki Bag ($2490); The Row shoes
Tortoiseshell
This one might seem to come a little out of left field, but I've been spotting lots of tortoiseshell shoes on the market by brands ranging from Saint Laurent to By Far to Topshop. It's a fresh look that goes with everything.
On Kendall Jenner: Skims Face Mask ($8); Aritzia Tiny Tank ($30); Wardrobe.NYC leggings; By Far Juju Mules ($223); Simon Miller Bend Bag ($413)
Slippers
I know slippers aren't technically outside shoes, but if you think about it, they're probably the most-worn shoe style of summer 2020 given all the time spent indoors. Mindy Kaling's Uggs-and-sweats outfit pretty much sums up 2020 style in a nutshell.
On Mindy Kaling: Ugg Genuine Shearling Slippers ($120)
Toe-Ring Sandals
Toe-ring sandals, both heeled and flat, are the "ugly" shoe trend of summer 2020. You could even say that they're the new flip-flops, but there's room enough for both of them, in my opinion.
On Hailey Bieber: Drew House face mask; Are You Am I tank top; Fung Lan and Co shirt; Re/Done jeans; Bottega Veneta The Chain Cassette Bag ($3800); Carvela Goddess Sandals ($59)
Sparkly Sandals
Leave it to Sarah Jessica Parker to ensure that footwear is fun, even amid a pandemic. But just because this trend is fun doesn't mean it can't be comfortable, e.g., in the form of walkable flat sandals.
On Sarah Jessica Parker: SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker Wallace Dress Sandals ($193)
Flip-Flops
Last but not least, we have good old reliable flip-flops. If you don't like them, I'm sorry to inform you that they don't seem to be going anywhere. But doesn't seeing how stylish Ana de Armas looks in them make you want to wear them with a dress, or is it just me?
On Ana de Armas: Farm Rio dress; Havaianas Slim Flip Flops ($26)
