This Is the Perfect Autumn Accessories Capsule, Hands Down
Sponsor Content Created With Dune London
It's not often we come across a shopping destination that can fulfill all of our season’s needs in one place. As you can probably tell, we love to shop around here at Who What Wear whether it’s for a high-street hero piece, secondhand steal, or the perfect timeless investment. When it comes to A/W 20 accessories, however, we can confidently say if we had to pick one place to find all of the incoming shoe trends, Dune would be pretty high up there on our list.
As a stalwart of the British high street since the early 90s, Dune has quietly stuck to its guns and earned a steadfast reputation as the go-to destination for your classic shoe styles. Office-appropriate courts, date-night mules, and of course, great boots are just some of their reliable strengths. However, over the last few seasons, Dune has well and truly worked its way to the top of our radars for trend-led designs that give our favourite designers a run for their money.
Take this summer’s Lockstockk sandal, for example—possibly the coolest sandal to come out of the high-street collections all year. At one point, it had an 800-person waiting list. If that doesn’t prove that Dune’s design team has well and truly stepped up to meet the 2020 moment—one that ticks Instagram trends, quality, and timelessness—we don’t know what does.
And it wasn't a one-off. Remember the Loupe-sandal obsession? And those influencer-approved Mantra mules from earlier this year that made every look feel more expensive, despite the high-street price tag? They’re certainly doing something right.
It comes as no surprise then, given Dune’s recent successes, that we awaited the autumn collection with bated breath, and it doesn’t disappoint. We were given a sneak preview of the new collection and pared-back campaign with ambassador Gillian Anderson (we’re still obsessed with everything she does since that well-heeled performance in Sex Education), and it pretty much covers every shoe style you’ll be needing this autumn.
Top of our wishlist are the buttery leather knee-high Spice boots and the Selsie, their suede sister, which mark the return of tall boots for yet another season. (That’s right: invest now, if you haven’t already). The Pictor black boots are also high up on that list as an excellent elevated biker style, made to be worn with all those cottage-core dresses we indulged in this summer to bring them seasonally up to date.
The versatile Outshine ankle boots might just be the most-perfect heeled ankle boot we’ve seen in a long time—sculptural, minimal, and guaranteed to go with everything. And we’re calling it now—theDaydream boucle slingbacks are bound to be another Instagram hit. They'll dress up any jeans-and-blazer outfit in an instant, and it's making us very excited to be dressing in real clothes again.
The best thing about this new collection, we think, is its ability to tick off the trends without feeling too "of the moment." After all, 2020’s biggest trends are wearability, longevity, and versatile investments; pieces that fit seamlessly into the wardrobes we already have but still elevate them instantly and will continue to do so for many autumns to come.
