You Don't Need the Weather to Change to Start Wearing This Spring Styling Trick
Hands up if you're sick of enduring a new storm every week. I know I am. I would quite like to put aside padded down jackets and clumpy boots in favour of less Michelin man-like clothing. Well, perhaps I've found just the styling trick to help you stay warm and still able to showcase the chicest pieces in your wardrobe. The trick in question is wearing your maxi or midi dresses over trousers. No, it's not exactly new—I know I was definitely wearing a version of this in the '90s when I was a teenager. However, there are cooler and more 2020 ways to wear this look right now.
Thanks to the number of Scandi women wearing this outfit formula during Copenhagen Fashion Week, I've discovered a few new rules to it. Firstly, you will definitely need a smart jacket over the top of this ensemble, so as to look like you intended to wear your dress over your trousers and not a Joey Tribbiani costume. You will also need to layer a T-shirt or roll-neck underneath to ensure that this remains a warm outfit (it negates the point of wearing it otherwise).
I think the real beauty about this outfit, though, is that you can wear your new spring dresses or just re-wear your summer frocks from last year. So go forth and make your wardrobe feel much more fun—even if it's blowing a gale outside.
Style Notes: For the outfit on the right (you can see the left, below), you'll want to invest in an on-trend leather blazer. Pair with a shirtdress and roll-neck and tuck in a portion of the dress into your high-waisted jeans.

Style Notes: What makes a grey blazer, white T-shirt, jeans and knee-high boots even cooler? The addition of a layered midi dress.

Style Notes: Want to ensure this is a super-chic look? Colour coordinate your trousers and dress by wearing a contrasting pair of boots.

Style Notes: For the most spring-like way to wear this outfit, opt for lighter-coloured trousers and fun hair accessories.
