The Bag You Begged for in 2000 Is Back (and All Over Instagram)
There are few bags that define a decade quite like the '00s-era Dior saddle bag. It made an appearance on Sex and the City and was on the arm of Paris Hilton and Mischa Barton too. The bag originally debuted as part of the French fashion house's S/S 00 collection designed by John Galliano, but as of late, it has experienced a sort of handbag renaissance. Over the past few years, we've seen fashion insiders scrambling to snag a vintage bag via eBay (or their high school closets).
But all that work will no longer be necessary. Today, Dior announced the bag's reissue. "I consider this icon of the House's recent history the perfect accessory to deal with this battle that is daily life," said Dior's Maria Grazia Chiuri in a press release. "I wanted it larger and more robust but also very colorful, embroidered, or with beaded fringe because, like a chameleon, it adapts to all situations."
If you've had the chance to scroll through your Instagram feed this morning, chances are you may have already been clued into the fact that something big and bag-related was going on. Celebrities and fashion insiders were all enlisted to post photos with the covetable bags. Though none of the Instagram posts were marked as sponsored, the en masse flood of photos suggests that all were enlisted specifically for the launch.
Read on for a look at how It girls are already styling the bag you desperately wanted in 2000, and check out images of the reissued styles.
