As a serial denim lover, I’m always looking for experimental ways to wear my denim, and this season is no different. The viral Canadian-tuxedo trend is my current ploy to spice up my denim closet. Combining different washes and patterns can be the most intimidating part, but I’ve turned to five influencers for outfit inspiration on how to wear this tricky trend.

Not only are influencers experimenting with full-look denim, but many designers have also included jeans looks in recent collections, including Diesel, Chloé, and Blumarine. You’ll never regret buying new denim, but you can also rewear your favorite pairs with fun pieces you purchase.

I’m planning to take out my most loved jeans and purchase a few additional denim pieces to execute this Canadian-tuxedo look. Below, I’ve shopped out some of my favorite outfit combinations and the pieces needed to complete the look.

Jacket as a Shirt + Jeans

Reinvent the jean jacket by wearing it as a shirt. Match the wash to your jeans for a makeshift co-ord set. You’ll thank me later.

Vests are huge right now, and trying them in denim is a relaxed, retro way to execute the Canadian tuxedo. Don’t be shy wearing it as a top, or you can always layer it under a jean jacket for a three-piece "tuxedo.”

Jacket + Midi Skirt

This look is the one I’m most excited to try with my choice denim jacket, as the denim midi skirt has taken on a life of its own. Toss on a pair of knee-high boots to look put-together and trend-forward.

I’m looking to try patchwork denim, and this all-over 'fit is definitely a statement. I plan to keep the accessories simple and let the denim shine.

Corset tops and bustiers are the Y2K denim fad seen on stars such as Dua Lipa and Amandla Stenberg. This look makes head-to-toe denim a more than viable night-out ensemble.
