Sustainable fashion has never looked chicer. Attending the Copenhagen Fashion Summit, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark wore a beautiful pleated skirt made of 100% recycled polyester fabric from plastic bottles. The custom piece was designed just for the princess by Charlotte Eskildsen of Designers Remix, a Copenhagen-based brand dedicated to the circular fashion system.
In addition to listening in on both days of the Copenhagen Fashion Summit, which is billed as "the world's leading business event on sustainability in fashion," Crown Princess Mary was also one of the featured speakers. She joined a heavy-hitting lineup that included Stella McCartney, Nike COO Eric Sprunk, model Amber Valletta, Vogue Fashion Director Tonne Goodman, and executives from Burberry, Kering, Ganni, and more.
In her speech, the princess spoke about the importance of sustainability in fashion and how the summit is leading the charge. "To secure long-term growth and profitability, [the fashion industry] needs new technologies and models that are only just beginning to emerge—but thank god they are beginning to emerge," she said onstage. Princess Mary also mentioned the Global Fashion Agenda's newest Pulse of the Fashion Industry Report, an analysis of the fashion industry's environmental, ethical, and social performance.
