Karlie Kloss Just Nailed a Summer Staple in the Middle of Fall

Our relationship with crop tops is complicated. One can be an absolute advocate of the piece but also become a bit wary when it comes time to actually wear it. Admittedly anxiety-inducing, the belly-baring number is a cool way to up the ante of an outfit, when worn correctly. Crop tops come in various iterations, from sporty to sophisticated to sultry, and there are endless ways to style them; they've become a summer wardrobe staple that works for every body type. In seasons when the sun and agreeable temperatures aren't always guaranteed, however, pulling off midriff-baring number can be a tricky undertaking indeed.

Well, leave it to none other than Karlie Kloss to prove the crop top can look just as good in the fall. While strolling around New York City's West Village yesterday, the model displayed a surprising getup: Beneath a long camel trench, Kloss left part of her midsection open to the autumn air with a black crop top but concealed just enough for seasonal comfort with her high-rise blue jeans. Finished off with a pair of Anya Hindmarch boots and Space Invaders bag, the risky look worked to great effect.
