Who Else Is on a "Sad Beige" Strike? These Colorful Outfits Are in My Rotation
"Sad beige" is the quietest and least exciting fashion revolution we've experienced to date. I have a theory that it not only affects aesthetics but also the way we feel as a society. I totally get the allure, however, since it's so easy to reliably create simple and chic looks when your closet is made of whites, tans, and neutrals that all go together so seamlessly. But where's the inspiration?! The emotion, the gall, the passion, the attitude? Can you really access all the emotions when you're in beige every day? I think not. This is why I've officially taken a stand against the sad beige revolution and am on strike by dressing colorfully as much as possible.
Some things I've learned so far: Stick to fairly simple silhouettes to not overwhelm the outfit with too many standout elements, try to think of yourself as a canvas and the clothing the paint (color theory is everything), and play with all color tones. Don't let anyone tell you that you must wear bright colors or it doesn't count. There are plenty of muted colors that work together beautifully.

Muted-Color Separates
This is a perfect example of a colorful outfit that reads like more of a neutral outfit due to the muted blue and green tones. I absolutely love this look because it's interesting while not commanding too much attention, which sometimes colorful outfits can do.
The brown loafers and white hat also tone down the color and give it that understated feel.

This looks super structured, which is so hard to find in sweaters.
You might as well invest in a belt that'll last you forever.
Bold Color-Blocking
This is the outfit combo I run to when I don't want to put too much thought into what I'm wearing. Start with a simple base, like jeans and a white top, then grab anything bright and throw it on. That sounds too simple to actually work, but it does. The beauty in this outfit formula is you can create so many different outfit combinations simply by rotating your "finishing pieces."

Yellow is a color I think too many people overlook. It goes so well with other colors.
Nothing like a bright beanie to add some life to your outfit!
Brown Paired With Bright Separates
I must say the "brown + bright color" trend is one of my favorites this season for a couple of reasons. One, brown is such an underrated color, and I love that it's having a moment and people are appreciating its potential. Second, brown highlights the bright color even more and makes for great contrast.
Mecca is a master class in proportion and color. Take notes, folks.

Fun Pants + Laid-Back Top
If you own a pair of exuberant pants, you already know that it's a getting-dressed hack. All you have to do is add a simple tee, and you're done. Experiment with pattern clashing to unlock your inner creative.

Dress these pants up with a sharp blazer, or dress them down with a baggy shirt and sneaks.
The color melts across the shirt. I'm so curious how they accomplished this.
If you love pattern clashing like me, this is a fun one to add to your roster.
