This Will Be the Most Popular Boot Trend for Fall, Hands Down
We always have our eye on the biggest boot trends for fall, and this season, one style is winning out: chunky boots. While they have been a favorite in past seasons, they were spotted all over the fall/winter 2022 runways, and the new-arrivals sections at all of our favorite retailers are heavily stocked with the trend. They're already a favorite among the fashion set, but we're predicting they'll be even more popular this fall.
Not only is the boot style fashion-forward, but it's also comfortable. Finished with platforms or thick lug soles, these shoes put a cool spin on flat boots. With styles ranging from high-leg Chelsea boots to Wellingtons to equestrian styles, there is sure to be a silhouette that you'll want to add to your shopping cart. Ahead, see how chunky boots were styled on the fall/winter 2022 runways and get inspiration for how to wear them from the fashion set.
In the collections:
White ankle boots get a cool, modern update at Dior with this lug-sole version.
At Stella McCartney, we saw platform lug soles for a super-chunky take on the trend.
Bottega Veneta debuted its BV Puddle Boots on the runway, ushering in the rubber-boot trend.
At Khaite, we saw knee-high riding boots that reimagine the classic equestrian style with a slightly chunkier sole and wider shaft.
On the fashion set:
One of the most popular silhouettes among the fashion set? Chelsea boots with a slightly higher shaft. Pair them with a trench coat like the outfit here.
Here's another great way to style a skirt set. The longer maxi skirt here is the perfect pairing for mid-rise boots.
This look, pairing a cape-like piece with chunky boots, is the perfect look as we move into fall.
If you're gravitating toward knee-high chunky boots, try wearing them with a leather dress layered over a button-down shirt.
Rubber Wellington boots are starting to pop up everywhere and are destined to be huge this fall.
You can't go wrong by wearing black from head to toe. The leather pants and blazer add a sleek element to the chunky footwear.
