Chrissy Teigen's Sage Advice on How to Stay Confident
Chrissy Teigen has all the makings of an It-model: a megawatt smile, an impeccable sense of personal style, and the ability to land everything from the cover of Sports Illustrated to Piperlime's recent relaunch. But there are also a few things that make her stand apart from the rest of the crowd: a hilarious Twitter, the ability to share her unfiltered opinions at all times, and her budge-free self-confidence.
Whether she's posing in a bikini or taste-testing messy hamburgers on MTV's Snack Off, Teigen seems to maintain her sense of self-worth. How does she do it? At Piperlime's Hollywood re-launch party, Teigen told us all her secrets.
"You know what helped me be confident, and this is the honest truth, is seeing people love and respect and go crazy over the bodies of women who might have been considered 'curvy' before," Teigen said. "So for me, seeing people that have curves and are sexier and aren't necessarily the norm for the fashion industry—to see them flourish, that's what gives me confidence. Honestly, I'm like damn, I can be my normal self! I don't have to starve myself, I can have a sexy body and still get the cover of Vogue.
"Kate Upton, obviously, she's so beautiful and has such a wonderful body. She has curves; that's not something that was ever expected before. So to be able to see that that can be done is inspiring to me, honestly. The Kim Kardashians, the Jennifer Lopezes, and the Iggy Azaleas—there are so many women. People want that body [type], and they love it and appreciate it. I don't feel the need to have to starve myself, truly."
We have to agree with her—the variety of body types being represented in fashion really gives us inspiration to love ourselves as is. What makes YOU feel more confident in your body? Tell us in the comments below!
