The "Boring" Flats Celebs Are Wearing Again This Summer

Ballet pumps were the height of cool in the 2000s thanks to Kate Moss and her Repettos (these were the shoes she lived in throughout the Primrose Hill era). However, this weekend at a Bob Dylan performance in Hyde Park, the model returned to her trusted flats, wearing a pair of black ballet pumps with a little bow at the toe. She isn't the only star to return to ballet pumps, though. At Wimbledon last week, Adwoa Aboah wore a pair of black ballet pumps with her white jeans. Alexa Chung has stayed loyal to her ballet flats throughout their 10-year hiatus, and this summer, she wore them on a red carpet with a fantastical ball gown, proving they really can go with anything.
One of the reasons for the return of the ballet pumps is their endorsement by the brand of the year, Bottega Veneta. Ever since Daniel Lee took to the helm last year, this has been the brand that dictates effortless but elevated style. Needless to say, Lee has given ballet pumps a 2019 makeover with flats with almond-shaped toes and a subtle V-front.
