I'm Getting By This Winter With Just 15 Pieces in My Wardrobe
It recently occurred to me that I’ve been wearing many of the same pieces from my closet for the past few months. From my everyday life in L.A. to events for work to trips to London and Paris, I’ve been able to mix together the same 15 items from my closet.
Now, I’ll start out by saying that this has worked so well for me because I’m somewhat of a minimalist at heart. Because I believe in investing in classic pieces I can wear forever (rather than trendy ones I’ll only wear once or twice), the items I buy must be timeless and versatile. For instance, I bought my Chanel 2.55 bag in Paris years ago, but it looks just as chic today as it did the day I bought it. The quilted leather goes with pretty much everything I wear, which is why it’s the perfect piece for my capsule wardrobe. The same thing goes for my faded black Levi’s, Splendid turtleneck, and Veda leather jacket. These pieces are all total workhorses and get quite a lot of wear.
The key to having a capsule wardrobe while working in fashion, though, is to bring in some more trend-forward pieces that are versatile (and work with a number of outfits). That’s where pieces like sock boots, oversize hoop earrings, and a faux-fur coat come into play. Here, I’m sharing the 15 pieces that I’ve been wearing this season. I guess you could say that I’ve created my own capsule wardrobe for winter!
