This Elegant Neutral Is the Color Replacing Black in My 2025 Wardrobe

While looking at my closet recently, I came to the realization that it predominately includes pieces that are black. I've always had an affinity for the neutral shade, but after moving to New York and dressing even more minimally that I typically do, nearly every outfit I've worn has included black in some capacity. While I won't be moving away from black pieces entirely, I'm planning to incorporate more colors and neutral shades into my closet. I've been ordering new pieces in softer neutrals, such as navy and ivory, but I'm now interested in camel.

I added a Ralph Lauren runway image from 2004 onto my mood board, which was one of my original points of inspiration. Though the look is over 20 years old, the outfit—which layers camel from head to toe—feels as relevant as ever and has an enduring timelessness. It is a color that was favored by Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy as well as brands such as Max Mara, each known for classic style. As I consider which pieces to add to my wardrobe, I put together an edit of the best camel fashion items ahead.
