Buying a Vintage Swimsuit Is a Bad Idea, But This Vintage-Inspired Trend Is Not

Just when we were starting to think that every swimwear trend under the sun for 2018 had already been covered (by late March, no less), Solid & Striped brought one to our attention that we definitely didn't see coming, and it has vintage vibes in spades: buttons. The trendsetting brand has several button-adorned one-pieces and bikinis in its new S/S 18 collection, and we can see why it's embraced the microtrend. Yes, it seems subtle, but buttons breathe directional life into any style that they embellish (which is why we're such suckers for cool button details on clothing as well).

As we do whenever a brand alerts us to a new trend, we searched the vast swimwear options at some of our favorite e-tailers to see if other brands are in on the new trend, and lo and behold, they definitely are. And that's all the convincing we need that this trend is worth investing in.

Below, check out the trend via Solid & Striped's S/S 18 lookbook and shop the best styles the internet has to offer.
