Instead of Neutrals, Anyone Who’s Chic Is Wearing This Stylish Update on the Brown Manicure

From the cinnamon suede bags on the high street to the deluxe mocha-coloured designer coats on the runways, dark hues are definitely having a moment. On the beauty front, brown chrome nails are bringing this coveted shade within our fingertips.

But as chic as this trend is, I can't help but wonder why I've omitted it from my rotation of neutral toned nail polishes. Celebrities like Selena Gomez and local style stalwarts like Monikh Dale have already proven why chocolate brown nails are the expensive-looking antithesis to black or burgundy manicures. But if you're in need of further convincing, only look to the plethora of ways the fashion set are incorporating this luminous tinge into their wardrobes and makeup routines.

Yes, chrome nails aren't anything new, but for the colder months, there's something luxurious about wearing the deep, golden brown hue with a pearlescent finish. In my opinion, it's the perfect way to bring a little bit of sophistication to your look without breaking the bank.

Of course, we're not the only ones who agree. The hashtag #brownchromenails already has over six million views on TikTok, giving the glazed donut manicure or subtle blush trend (think: Essie's Ballet Slippers or Chanel Beauty's Ballerina shade) a serious run for its money.

There's something about the super-shiny, iridescent effect that makes this mani so stunning, and it's such an elevated way to update dark nails—especially during a time when the weather discourages wearing anything to chintzy.

Ahead of your next nail appointment, I've spent hours finding some of the best brown chrome manicures on Instagram to add to your saved folder. While there are plenty of inspirational shots and styling cues ahead, I've also rounded up some of my favourite nail polishes so that you can re-create the brown chrome look at home. Don't say I don't treat you…
