There's no doubt about it: the lockdown gave us a new-found appreciation for all things British—and we're refusing to shake it. With staycations being the only option, many of us took to exploring the best of the British Isles, staying in shepherd's huts in Norfolk, cottages in the Cotswolds and pretending Cornwall is California. And while the doors to international travel have been fully flung open again, we're still big fans of exploring our own country, even with long haul flights back on the cards. So, whether you're going to the Lake District or Somerset, we've put together some outfit ideas that will be ideal for any trip to the countryside this summer.

1. THE COTTAGECORE WEEKEND

Style Notes: Since "Cottagecore" burst onto the scene in 2018, it's managed to work its way back to the top of our spring/summer moodboards every year since. Part of its appeal is its pretty, seasonal charm, and part is it's reliance on "throw-on-and-go" dress and easy flats. Either way, floral dresses, raffia bags and ballet flats are always well worth packing for a small town stay.

Style Notes: If your countryside trips tend to be a little more active than sitting in the garden with a glass of rosé, you're going to need some practical pieces perfect for exploring (whatever the weather). Be prepared for everything from intermittent showers to trekking through fields with a wax jacket and wellies that you'll wear for years to come.

3. THE BEACH GETAWAY

Style Notes: Celebrate, fellow sunseekers! We come into our own in the warm-weather, and after last year's heatwave, there's a lot to play for. Get plenty of wear out of your bikini by wearing it as the base of a light, airy outfit best worn on the beaches of Britain's coast. Simply add a leather flip flop or pair of slides and you're good to go..

4. SUMMER IN THE CITY

Style Notes: Of course, a holiday doesn't have to mean that you're heading to the countryside or the coast, and if you're travelling to a busy city, you'll appreciate an outfit that goes from day to night with nothing more than the switch of a shoe. Et voila.

5. THE SPA BREAK

Style Notes: Is there anything more Instagrammable than checking into a luxury retreat for a weekend of being pampered? If there is, I'm yet to see it. A relaxing stay calls for ease first, and light cotton and linens are perfect for translating pyjama-level comfort to outdoor wear. Throw on an easy sandal and transition effortlessly from bed, to massage table, to brunch.

6. THE FESTIVAL

Style Notes: Festival season has already kicked off in the US, which means it's only a matter of time until it reaches our shores. Whether you spend it glamping, camping, or liberally applying glitter, bohemian energy runs throughout festival fashion, and its legacy runs deeper than flower crowns. Do festival fashion the "grown up" way by adding textures like suede, leather, shearling and raw denim to floaty dresses and printed skirts.

7. THE WEDDING TRIP

Style Notes: Wedding season is back and in full effect, so if you've got plans to travel across the country to celebrate the nuptials of your nearest and dearest, you can never go wrong with an elegant dress. Whether you're the bridesmaid or the best friend, a halterneck is a universally flattering option that will keep you cool too, so bring on the summer evening parties.
