Suddenly, Everyone's Wearing This New Trouser Trend—Here's How It Replaced Jeans

There's a new trouser trend taking over my Instagram feed and for it's undone finish and effortlessly cool silhouette, I'm becoming more and more tempted to buy in. Suddenly, celebrities, influencers and fashion insiders are styling their trousers with exposed boxer shorts or choosing pairs with a built-in extra waistband on show, often finishing the look with a cropped tee or blazer for a tongue-in-cheek take on corporate dressing. Inspired by the runway trend which saw Miu Miu pioneer this layered look, the deconstructed style is now permeating the high street, with brands such as ZaraH&M and Reformation offering their take.

Showing her take on the trend, singer Rochelle Humes wore her trousers low-slung with her Miu Miu boxer shorts peaking out from the waistband. Pairing the trend with a longline blazer and black crop top, she went for chunky, black boots and minimal accessories to let her simple styling trick carry the outfit.

With an undone finish cool enough to rival an Olsen twin, the beauty of the exposed-boxer trend lies in its casual nonchalance. The simple trick leans into typically androgynous styling but can be accessorised to give it any number of finishes. To dip your toe into the trend, simply wear a pair of boxers underneath straight, low-slung trousers, allowing the waistband of the boxers to poke out.
