FYI: This Is How to Wear Birkenstocks With a Dress (Thanks, Julianne Moore)
Not only is Julianne Moore one of Hollywood's most stylish post-50 celebrities, but she's also one of Hollywood's most stylish celebrities period and has been for quite some time. Moore is known for boldly wearing even the most avant-garde trends on the red carpet without ever looking like she's trying too hard. It's no surprise that designers love her and want to dress her (although she's had a long red carpet partnership with Givenchy). But we're not talking about one of Moore's jaw-dropping red carpet looks today. We're talking about an off-duty look.
Moore attended a screening for her new film After the Wedding in NYC over the weekend wearing a dress with a surprising but smart shoe style: Birkenstock sandals. By opting to pair her ruffled Isabel Marant dress with the OG "ugly" shoe, Moore looked every bit the fashion insider, as this is a look that we've seen on plenty of street style stars.
So how did she manage to make the two-piece outfit look so cool? For starters, the shape and length of the waist-cinching midi dress was a much better choice than, say, a tent dress or a minidress, and it had just enough pretty details to balance out the utilitarian shoes. Keep scrolling to shop Moore's look and similar Birkenstocks. (Hers seem to be a special-edition pair that's no longer available). And scroll to see more Julianne Moore Birkenstock outfits at the end. (She clearly loves them.)
