It's hard to pick one title for Bethenny Frankel. She's a true multi-hyphenate. The podcast host, producer, best-selling author, philanthropist, and Real Housewives of New York City alum is adding another role to her résumé: TikTok beauty influencer. Instead of the typical overly filtered and curated feed you might expect, Frankel's is refreshingly realistic and genuine. In 2020, she started posting product reviews and beauty tips on TikTok, engaging viewers with her sharp wit and humor. Three years later, she's amassed an audience of 1.3 million followers that spans multiple demographics from Gen Zers like her daughter, Bryn, to wealthy working moms in the Hamptons (whom she frequently runs into on her drugstore shopping sprees).
Drugstore beauty finds, specifically, are Frankel's kryptonite. "I get way more excited to go to CVS and Walgreens than I do the department store. It's more exciting, there's more innovation, and it's more fun. Every day, I go into the drugstore and there's something new," she tells me. After testing countless products, she's identified the highest-performing drugstore brands, the best multitasking products, and a long list of travel-approved beauty hacks. "I'm a savant!" she laughs. "I never knew that highlighter could be that inner corner pop, that bronzer could be the crease color for your eye shadow, that you can take a foundation that's too dark and use it as bronzer. Also, if your SPF is too chalky, put a little foundation in it and make your own tinted sunscreen." (I'm taking notes here.) Keep scrolling to see her tried-and-true beauty picks from the drugstore bronzer that rivals Chanel Les Beiges to the iridescent highlighter she calls "elite."
"It feels like a very expensive cream. I haven't found another drugstore cream that compares."
"This performs as well as any department-store foundation."
"The liquid and powder highlighters are elite. I like the one that has purple, pink, and white. It looks like princess colors."
"This is the affordable drugstore version of the Chanel bronzer. It smells like coconuts, which is really nice."
"This is an amazing cream bronzer quad. It's really functional because it's also giving you the white color that you can put underneath the cream bronzer to make it pop more."
"One is matte, and one is sparkly. They're both neutral colors, but they're still fun. It's like idiot-proof eye shadow."
"This has the cutest packaging, and it's so pretty. It's whimsical, and I love their blush and bronzer."
