ASOS, & Other Stories and Topshop Stock the Best Versions of This Trending Boot
There’s definitely a "two tribe” kind of thing emerging this season when it comes to boots. On the one side, there are the more classic elegant styles you’d wear on nights out, to the office and to a friend’s wedding.
On the other, there are the clumpy, stomp-around boots that are meant to weather anything you throw at them. As much as I like trying to look a bit more sophisticated, the brilliant thing about these boots is that if they’re a bit beaten up, they still look great. It’s like wearing in a leather jacket—the more it moulds to you, the better it looks.
Of course, the question that needs to be answered is how do you wear them? Personally, I’m a fan of a slip dress or skirt worn with a suede jacket or oversized jumper. But other great options include a pair of tapered or mom jeans and a leather jacket. To be honest, you could pretty much wear them with anything and they’d look great and a little bit punky.
Now, onto where to shop for them. The ultimate are Dr. Martens, but luckily there are also more inexpensive ones that are stocked all over the high street. I bought a pair from ASOS last winter, and I’ve brought them back out again for autumn; they’ve already saved me from wet feet during the recent spate of colder weather. Topshop, & Other Stories and Zara have all got a version (or even several) of these boots. I genuinely believe once you get a pair, you won’t stop wearing them from September until April. Keep scrolling to see which I consider to be the best on the high street right now.
Mock croc is everywhere right now. Why? Because it makes everything look more expensive.
Wear with a slip skirt or dress for the ultimate ’90s styling.
More croc effect, but this time in a wide fit.
These look more expensive than the price tag thanks to the buckets and thicker sole.
